Westgate Weekly
April 26, 2021
Hello Westgate Families,
As the new Interim Principal of Westgate Elementary (6th day on the job), I've had the opportunity to meet some of your students. I've been very impressed! Good work Team Westgate Families. We couldn't do this without you. Your students have been very welcoming and kind to me as the new principal. One of them even came up with the tag line, 'Mr. Hearn wants you to learn'.
Bussing Issues:
I'm hearing from several parents that they are having some bussing issues since moving back to hybrid. Transportation is aware of the issues with routing and the Parent Portal App. They are working on these issues, but it may take some more time to resolve. Thank you for your patience. If there is a problem, please contact transportation directly at (425) 431-7230. They will work to resolve each problem as they become aware of it. Due to security (and other reasons), student bus schedules cannot be shared except directly with parents. Families will need to access Skyward to find their student's individual bus route schedule. Anyone who does not have access to Skyward is welcome to call transportation for routing information. Lastly, I would suggest you connect with other bus stop parents in your neighborhood to ensure an adult is always at the morning bus stop.
Reminders:
- Make sure your student(s) are dressed for the weather (i.e. rain gear) AND their health attestation is done by 8:00 am everyday they come to school.
- Read aloud books (see below) can be accessed on your phone and can be a great alternative on the go.
- School breakfast and lunch are FREE for all students for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year. I've included the school menu for your convenience.
Westgate's Nurse LIsa will be doing vision screening for K-3 on Thursday & Friday
- Students need to please bring their glasses if they use them.
