Book Fair is coming up! Our buying time will be on Thursday, September 29th from 10-10:20.
I can't believe that it is conference time already! Please mark your calendars for September 28th and 29th. These are early release days, and I will plan to hold most of the conferences on these days. I use an online sign-up.

Learning Objectives for the Week
Math: We will continue to learn about Multiplication. This week, we will focus on finding the unknown number in a multiplication problem.
Reading: We will focus on non-fiction text. We will be reading about the levels of government.
Writing: Students are working on their second piece of narrative writing. Our grammar focus is on coordinating conjunctions.
Word Study: We will have a test in Word Study this week. The assessment will cover compound words, pre-, re-, and un-. Please use the review homework to help your child prepare for this test.
Social Studies: Students will learn about the branches of government and the levels of government. I have several resources on my eClass page if you want to start studying early!
Monday: Word Roots Homework (Due Thursday)
Tuesday: Math Worksheet
Wednesday: Math Workbook pages 269-270.
Thursday: Grammar Worksheet
Friday: Word Roots Test, Reading Logs due Monday

Math: Review Worksheet (linked on my eClass page)
Social Studies: On the student portal, go to Freedom Flix. Under “Our Democracy”, find the book "Branches of the US Government". Read a few pages of the book. Write down five new facts you learned in the book.
Reading: Find a nonfiction book at home, or read one of the Nonfiction Leveled Readers on the Study Portal. Write down three text features you noticed in the book.

Established in 1969, PTA REFLECTIONS is a nationally acclaimed student recognition program encouraging artistic creativity in dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography and visual arts. Students of all grades and abilities may participate and explore the arts based on the 2016-2017 theme:WHAT IS YOUR STORY?
Last year, fourteen Gwin Oaks winners had their projects place at County and went on to State competition. Former fifth graders, Kiley Sena and Talaya Kaj Thomas, represented Georgia at the National level in Film/Video Production and Music Composition, respectively.
