Team 7-1

Our team is very busy wrapping up the year. In English the students are presenting book commercials. Hopefully, these presentations will stir some excitement for the summer reading requirement. Social Studies students are exploring the Western Expansion as they travel through primary documents. Students are learning about human body systems by creating a foldable pamphlet in science. Probability is being experienced in math class. We are also looking forward to some upcoming field trips as the year comes to a close.

Family and Consumer Science

Over the course of the year, students have collected over 1700 canned goods to be given to the local food kitchens and to our own school kitchen. I'm very proud of all the work the students did in collecting these food items.

Congratulations to Armine R. and Alexia L. who received first and second place prizes in the annual poetry contest. Both students are members of Team 8-2. We are so proud of you!

Hamlet Highlights

The WMS Hamlet Library is a very busy place:

  • Circulation is up by 25% over the last 2 years
  • Student visits during Advisory and Enrichment increased by 5% this year
  • Collection has expanded with the purchase of 291 new books

We are looking forward to the 2016-2017 school year!

From the School Nurses

The Woonsocket Education Department collects pop tops from cans for the Ronald McDonald House. Pop tops (or flip tops) from soda cans, etc. can be brought to the school nurse and they will be sent to the house to help defray the expenses of the families that stay there.

All sixth graders will need an updated physical exam and immunizations for entry to grade seven in September. Please get your up-to-date papers in to the school nurse as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please call the school nurse or visit her web page.

Parents of seventh graders: Remember your child needs a second HPV prior to entering the 8th grade in August. This is a state requirement. Please call your doctor and schedule an appointment or fax the updated vaccine information to your school nurse.
