Graduate Student Newsletter
October 2020
Welcome...and Welcome Back!
Hello from your Graduate Student Organization at Loyola! We're here to reach out to you, our fellow students and colleagues, to connect you to information, resources, and activities to support you in your time as a graduate student at Loyola!
Watch for our newsletters at the beginning of each month, forwarded to you by your Program Operations Director, or at www.loyola.edu/gradstudents.
Free Graduate Planner and Services Handbook
The Graduate Student Services Office is offering copies of the Graduate Planner and Services Handbook for all new and continuing graduate students.
You can pick up a physical copy of the 176 page planner at the student lounge in the Columbia and Timonium Graduate Centers. The handbook portion is also available online.
Join us for some Trivia!
Graduate Student Charm City Trivia Team
While our usual social events are on hiatus, there's no reason not to come together for some trivia. We would like to assemble a team of graduate students (only) to compete on October 10th at 8pm. Please let us know if you would like to be on a team no later than Monday, October 5th. Send the following to gso@loyola.edu:
- Name
- Graduate Program
- Email address where you would like to be contacted
Depending on how many would like to play, we can split into teams by program, or have combined groups. We will decide as a group if we want to continue for additional Saturdays beyond the 10th.

Graduate Student Leadership Opportunities
Consider these opportunities to represent graduate student interests at Loyola:
- The Loyola / Notre Dame Library is seeking graduate student members for their Library Student Advisory Board this Fall. You would be asked to participate in brief surveys or online discussions, with just one brief Zoom meet-and-greet to get to know each other.
- The Loyola University Academic Senate has an opening for a Graduate Student Representative. The Senate is comprised of faculty and administrators, and two student representatives. The Senate approves programs, policies, and resources that benefit the University as a whole. Contact Mark Lee if interested in applying for this leadership opportunity.
