Fire Marshal Visit
Please check your areas for the following issues the fire marshal will document.
- All exit doors are readily operable, free, and clear of obstructions. No alternative locking devices are applied. [LSC 101 15.2 & 7.2.1.5]
- Corridors are free and clear of storage. [LSC 101 7.1.10, 15.7.4 & IFC 1030] 3. Exit access corridors are not less than 6 feet wide. [LSC 101 15.2.3.2]
- Locks and latches on exit doors are of the approved type and require not more than one releasing operation. [LSC 101 15.2.2 & 7.2.1.5]
- Extension cords and flexible cords are not used as substitute for permanent wiring. Extension cords and flexible cords are not attached to structures, extended through walls, ceilings or floors, or under doors, or floor coverings, nor are they subject to environmental damage or physical impact. Extension cords are used only with portable appliances. Multi-plug adaptors used as permitted in 605.4. [IFC 605.5]
- A working space of not less than 30 inches in width, 36 inches in depth and 78 inches in height is provided in front of electrical services equipment (panel). Where electrical service equipment is wider than 30 inches, the working space is no less than the width of the equipment. [IFC 605.3]
- Are junction box covers in place? [IFC 605.6]
- All outlets and light switches have covers. [NFPA 70-314.28(C)]
- Storage is maintained 18 inches below sprinkler deflectors. [IFC 315.3.1]
- Combustible artwork and teaching material do not exceed 20% in a non-sprinkled building and 50% in sprinkled building. [LSC 101 15.7.4.3]
- Combustible artwork and teaching material are not hanging overhead in classrooms and corridors. [Office Policy]
- Draperies, curtains and other similar furnishings and decorations are in compliance. [LSC 101 15.7.4.1, 10.3.1 & IFC 807.4]
- Alcohol –Based Hand-Rub Dispenser.
b. The maximum individual dispenser fluid capacity shall be 32 gal in rooms or 53 gal in suite of rooms.
c. Dispensers shall be separated from each other by horizontal spacing of not less Than 48”. d. Storage greater than 5 gal in a single fire compartment shall meet the requirements of NFPA 30.
e. Dispensers shall not be installed over or directly adjacent to an ignition source.

We will have a fire drill while the fire marshal is on site, any time between 9-11 am.

Friday, October 5th - Fire Drill any time between 9-11. Club Day! Walk-A-Thon kick-off assembly at 2:30 pm in the gym!
Monday, October 9th - Friday, October 13th - Fall Break! No school!
Tuesday, October 10th - Thursday, October 12th - Fall Intersession (Registration is required).
Monday, October 16th - Teacher In-Service. Agenda coming soon.
Thursday, October 19th - Parent / Teacher Conferences from 3:30 - 6:30. Dinner will be provided. All teachers are expected to stay during conference time. Please talk with Jane if there are extenuating circumstances that would prevent you from attending.
Friday, October 27th - Holston View Walk-A-Thon (during special area time). Trunk-or-Treat at HV! Vendors, book fair, food trucks, and games begin at 5 pm. Trunks open at 6 pm.
