Newsletter Week 8 Term 4 2022
St Joseph's Catholic School Morrinsville - December 13th
Principal's Message
Nau mai, haere mai St Joseph’s Whanau
The second-to-last week of Term 4, how the year has raced by!!
There have been many things happening this last week and more to come.
Morrinsville water issues last week: Thank you to all families who spread the word and supported the school with the decisions which had to be made, including the one day closure because of water safety. A big thank you also to the District Council who provided bottled water to the school making it possible to re-open after just one day.
Visit by Diane Porter from the Diocesan Education Office: We were fortunate to have Dianne Porter on site last week to teach the children about Prayer. Unfortunately this was cut short due to water issues in the town.
Disco Fun: The Junior and Senior Discos were a great hit once again and were a lot of fun for all. A special thank you to the PFC who organiaed these two events.
The Hits Bus: The school welcomed the visit by 'The Hits' Christmas Toy Donation Bus. The laughter, chatter and sense of fun was easy to see as children gave their toys and anticipated the joy with which they will be received on Christmas Day. Well done to 'The Hits', for providing us all this opportunity to be a generous giving community.
Choir/Service: Congratulations to the school choir and to Jemma and Chris who organised a successful choir on Sunday and to the teachers and Mrs Jane Fergusson who provided much appreciated support. The singing was beautiful and a lovely reminder of the special nature of Christmas. Thank you too, to all families who made their children's participation possible.
Coming up:
Leadership Day for Years 6 and 7: will be held at school on Wednesday 7th Dec.
Junior School (Years 1-4) Zoo Visit: will occur on Thursday 8th Dec. We wish them a fine and fun day.
Year 8 Retreat: to be held at school on Thursday 8th Dec
Leavers Dinner: Friday 9th Dec. We are looking forward to a lovely evening with the Year 8s and their families.
Tuesday 13th December - children have a 30 minute meeting with their new teacher for 2023
Wednesday 14th December - Final Mass and School Prize Giving:
Thursday 15th December - Whole school picnic.
Friday 16th December - 12:00 school finishes.
A prayer for the coming week:
Dear Lord
We thank you for Your gift of forgiveness
We thank you for the blessing of being part of Your family
We thank you for Your love that we experience every day
Help us to be generous in our hearts
to our family and our friends
Help us to share the joy we have in knowing you
and to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas.
Every blessing and have a great week.

Relieving Principal

On Sunday a combined Churches Walk for Christmas began at St Joseph’s, Morrinsville, joining with other Morrinsville faith communities, concluding at St Matthew’s Anglican Church. Thank you to the organisers of this event.
We would like to thank the St Josephs school students who came together as a choir, under the direction of Jane Fergusson, for their outstanding singing and playing.

Are You Able to Spare Some Time in 2023?
URGENTLY NEEDED
Calling for Master Chefs for Our Schools Weekly Sausage Sizzle.
2023 sees a day change to Friday and cooking time to 12.30pm for this service.
Master Chefs are required urgently approximately once per term for
1 hour on a Friday to cook sausages and clear away.
All money raised goes towards off setting costs of student class trips or camps.
We would love to hear from you.
If we are unable to get enough volunteers it may result in sausage sizzle being cut as a lunch option. This would be a shame for parents ease of a lunch one day a week and the students missing out. In the long term it will also mean additional costs for trips, etc.
Please email admin@stjoes.school.nz or phone the office on 8895306 to pop your name o the list. Thank you for your support.
