Happy February!

Wow! What a week it's been with this weather. From last week Wednesday to yesterday, it has been a wild week of weather in Wisconsin. I don't recall ever having school called off for four days in just over a week due to weather. It has been a roller coaster of weather, and this weekend looks to be a balmy 40 degrees, which is decent grilling weather in Wisconsin!

Please continue to make sure your child(ren) come to school with all of the winter gear next week, especially as much of the snow may start to melt over the weekend. It will be pretty wet on the playgrounds.

It was a great day to have kids back at Washington and hopefully February will continue to roll along without any more interruptions. Please pay attention to the PTA updates below, including information about registering for The Sweetheart Dance, which is next Saturday already!

Enjoy the weekend!

EFW Run/Walk Early Bird Registration--now through March 2nd!

Please consider joining us for the annual EFW Run/Walk which has a new name EFW Rush for Education. This event is Saturday, May 4, 2019, at Chestnut Commons, just southwest of Hart Park.

For those of you who are new to our school, or for those who have not had the opportunity to join us for this community event in the past, here is a little background on the Education Foundation of Wauwatosa. The EFW is a non-profit organization that funds innovative teaching ideas in our schools. The EFW supports our teachers and children and offers them opportunities beyond what the school budget can provide. By supporting this annual Run/Walk, we are “opening doors” for our students. At Washington, EFW has provided funds for our Motor Lab, Coding Club and Math books.

It is our sincere hope that you will join us this year and “walk or run” for education here in Wauwatosa. Even if you are unable to participate you can support the EFW Rush for Education by signing up for the t-shirt only. The event gets larger every year, and it’s a wonderful opportunity to join neighbors and friends for an enjoyable time. Refreshments, prizes, and trophies are just part of the fun.

Online early bird registration is open and runs through March 2. Participation is $25 per person for the timed 5K and $12 for the One Mile Fun Run and Walk. Please use this link to register: Registration
