Dr. Koop's Newsletter

May 5, 2023

Dear KRS Families,

We are celebrating our FANTASTIC KRS teachers and staff this week and next week for all that they do for the KRS students and families. Thank you to the KRS PTO for the delicious lunch on Wednesday and for all the special things the PTO has planned to celebrate the teachers and staff next week.

The Teacher of the Year and Educational Services Professional of the Year selection committee of parents, teachers, and staff, selected two special individuals out of many exceptional nominations. Please see this newsletter for the 2023 KRS Teacher of the Year and Educational Services Professional of the Year announcements. Congratulations!

On May 11, 2023, our talented KRS band, orchestra, and chorus student musicians will be performing during the school day for students, teachers, and staff and in the evening in the Madison Junior School auditorium at 7 PM.

Have a great weekend!

Sincerely,

Kings Road School Heroes

As part of the Madison Schools Day of Service on May 24 th , Kings Road School will be

participating in a satellite walk to support the children of The Valerie Fund in our community

and beyond. Our students will be participating in this event to raise awareness, and money for

children with cancer and blood disorders treated at the eight Valerie Fund Centers located in

pediatric hospitals throughout the NJ, NY and metro Philadelphia areas.

The Valerie Fund provides support for the comprehensive health care of children with cancer

and blood disorders. They provide each patient with a team of social workers, psychologists and child life specialists that support them throughout their journey, which eases the burden so their family can concentrate on healing.

The support provided goes beyond the medical, to include the Valerie Fund Scholarship

Program, and the Emergency Fund for Valerie Fund families to help bridge the gap for basic

needs. They also fund therapeutic camp experiences with Camp Happy Times for children with cancer since 1982, and camps for children with sickle cell, thalassemia, and other blood

disorders.
