Technology Updates
A view of what the Technology Department has going on
May 9th, 2022
Happy Monday, Mexico 59!
Timeclocks have been moved at the MHS, MMS, and MELC locations. MHS and MELC are in the teacher workrooms and MMS is located in the room behind the office.
If you are leaving the district and need to move things from your school email to a personal email account, be on the lookout for next week's newsletter with all the information you need to help with that transition.
We are working with the vendor to get our Interactive panels delivered to Central Office from there we will get them moved to stagging areas in each building in preparation to have them installed.
After the installers have finished, the technology department will still need to go around to each panel and get them inventoried and stickered. We will also at this time be setting up the panels for each classroom teacher and pushing a set of default apps out to the panels. If there is an app you want that you don't see come next school year, all you have to do is submit a tech ticket and we will get the app installed for you.
Don't forget to check out the Promethean website for all the training opportunities they have for us, for FREE.

Technology Tip
Rebooting your computer fixes 90% of computer issues.
Rebooting is often the first step in troubleshooting. But you must reboot – not “restart.” Rebooting is when you power your machine or device all the way down, wait 10 to 20 seconds, and then power up. The “Restart” option doesn’t work here
ORGANIZING YOUR GOOGLE DRIVE
Oh boy, how quickly did your Google Drive get out of control during remote learning? Yikes! This is an ongoing stressor for all of us, that's for sure. With some effort and consistent revisiting, it IS possible to get your Google Drive in shape and fit for the future.
- Use consistent naming conventions
- Use emojis, numbers, symbols, underscores, hashtags, etc. in your naming
- Create yearly master folders, '2020-2021'
- Create subfolders 'Trimester I', and 'Quarter 1' and add folders for subjects, units, etc.
- Color code your folders
- Find & give a home to orphaned files.
- Star files & folders, unstar when lesson/unit is completed
- 'Tag' folders and files for easy searching later
- Save files & folders to more than one location using 'Shift + Z'
