Kia ora Tātou

With the change of weather we are experiencing it is great to see our students wrapping up warm in the mornings. Please make sure all of their clothes are named so that when they peel off those layers we can make sure they get back to their rightful owners.

It was my privilege yesterday to accompany our School Leaders, Waka Captains, and Service Leaders to the National Young Leaders Day in Hamilton. A huge thank you to Lorraine, Aroha, and Eleanor for helping this to happen by being our drivers and chaperones. It was an awesome day and our leaders have been challenged in their resilience and given ideas on how to bounce back. Next week we will include some writing from some of the students so they can share their experience with you.

Stay warm

Year 7/8 Robocup challenge 2022

On Wednesday after school our Year 7/8 Robocup teams travelled with Mrs Harrison to Morrinsville Intermediate. We had 2 teams competing in a challenge to make an Alarm clock to get Uncle Albert out of bed. Both teams did extremely well in a very close competition. Team EPrO8 Champs (Alexis Broekhals, Tamati Emery-Te Kani, Oceane Opie and Arden Sutherland) worked hard and showed great teamwork to come 6th place. Impressively, after gaining the most points on the night, Team Flipper Blobbers (Gaebriel Gamble, Britney Madden, Justin Andrew and Christiaan Kuhn) were awarded 1st place and took away the trophy. Congratulations and well done to you all. We are extremely proud of your efforts. Thank you to the parents who provided transport, and to Mrs Harrison, who continues to share her passion for robotics and coding, engage our students and encourage them to 'Strive to Succeed'.

Please take the time to watch the video of the final moments of competition for the Flipper Blobbers! Keep an eye out next week for our Year 5/6 results!!!!!

EPRO8 Winners School Round 2022

There are Humpty Dumpty's everywhere in Room 11!

On Wednesday our Year 1, Room 11 students followed their very first instructional step by step video on You Tube. We had to listen very carefully and watch what the man was doing. Then Mrs Trebes stopped the video while we drew what he had said and then we carried on with each step until we completed our Humpty Dumpty. They look awesome and we are very proud of them.

Ka Pai Room 11.

Check out Humpty Dumpty's drawn by Eva Dromgool, Shara Worsell, Rhythm Baker and Sterling Dufty.

Team Ruru - Stem Challenge

This week Team Ruru started their STEM challenge to design, build, and launch a bottle rocket. The Wonder Projects ambassador, Steve, came in to introduce himself and the challenge.

Over term 2, students will explore Newtons laws of motion, and apply the design and engineering process to build a prototype bottle rocket, ready for launch.

Whose rocket will go the highest? The furtherest? Or have the best overall design?....Watch this space!

Team Tui - Under the Lens

Team Tui have been learning about microscopes. Peter Jager from Te Aroha College was kind enough to lend us some microscopes so we could investigate different things at a microscopic level. We looked at sand, salt and onion, and explored how they looked under the microscope. We were blown away by what could be seen! We are looking forward to exploring more things under the lens in coming weeks. A big thank you to Mr Jager and Te Aroha College for the opportunity to use their microscopes. A big thank you, also, to Greta Dromgool who inspired this science journey and lent us equipment to help aide us in our learning. Check out our foyer display in the office for some of our drawings of under the lens!
