Trail of Tears
The forced removal of Cherokee Indians to the West. The trail became know as The Trail of Tears due to the amount of death that occurred in the process.
Spoils System
A practice in which a political party, after winning a election, gives government jobs to its supporters, friends and relatives as a reward for working toward victory.
Nullification Crisis
The South was furious about the tariffs of 1828 and 1832, so they decided to nullify them. They also threatened to secede, but Jackson passed the Force Bill. This would allow Jackson and the federal government to force South Carolina to pay their tariffs by using the Army.
