September 2015

Welcome Back

2015-16 promises to be filled with activity and learning in the library. We have already seen an increase in book checkouts, database usage, and students visiting the library. Each library newsletter will highlight library events and resources, giving the BK community the assistance they need to be more successful in the classroom.

New BK email accounts

All students now have a new BK email address. The format for access is:
username: first initial last name@my.bk.org
password: last 2 digits of ID number followed by knightdrive
example: jstudent@my.bk.org and 38knightdrive
This account will provide students will access to Google Classroom, a gmail account, and library printing at this time.

Printing to the Library Printer

All students now have a ability to send a document directly to the library printer.
1. Complete the assignment and save as either a Word doc or a pdf.
2. Log in to the email that is listed in Schoolmaster OR your new BK gmail account. (see above)
3. Compose a message to print@bk.org
4. Attach the assignment.
5. Send.
No need for a subject. The document will reside in the printer for 24 hours.
At the library, log in to the printer with ID number, select 'Secure Print' highlight the document, and select 'Print & Delete'.

New Databases

Three new databases have been added to the library resources available to Bishop Kelly students.
World History in Context enhances the historical information offerings while using the same interface as the other InContext databases from Gale Publishing. This makes it easier to use while finding information.
Chilton Library represents the most authoritative auto repair information for car owners.
World Religions Online offers facts, video, images and more about the many religions of the world.

When needing facts, maps, images, video, charts, news, journals, or other types of research information, remember that the databases offer the quickest way to reliable, current information.

New Database Page

The database page has been reformatted to provide quicker access to reliable digital resources. To find it, from the BK Library webpage, click on the Database button. It is also available from the BK Library Blackboard page that is connected to all BK student's class lists. The main page includes links to the Gale Databases and the Gale eBooks. Clicking on the eBooks button at the top will open showing all Gale eBooks. The Other Digital Resources button to all other database subscriptions including World Book, Country Reports, Classroom Video, Bloom's Literature, World Religions Online, and more.

Library Blog

Ever wonder what your teachers and classmates are reading? The new library blog will have book reviews, recommended reading lists, and other library happenings. Check it out and subscribe to be notified when new posts are available.
