Library Notes & Tech Tips from Mrs. Martone
Over the next few weeks we will be celebrating Teen Tober in the JMS Library! TeenTober is a nationwide event held every October to "celebrate teens, promote year-round teen services and the innovative ways teen services help teens learn new skills, and fuel their passions in and outside the library" (ALA, 2021). This year we will be observing Teen Tober with Teen Tober Bingo, giveaways, and a trivia contest! We are excited to celebrate our students and encourage them to utilize all of the amazing resources the library has to offer!

Helping Your Child Deal With Conflict
When your child returns home from school, it can be difficult to hear that they are struggling or having a conflict with another student. As a parent, we want to shelter our students from that kind of frustration, hurt, and disappointment. However, students who learn to manage the conflict are able to have healthier friendships, are more successful in school, and are generally happier humans. In order to help your child learn to manage conflict on their own, allow them to speak openly at home without fear of a negative or emotional reaction. Your response to the conflict will determine their response. Help your student learn to identify and manage their emotions as emotional self-regulation is an important life skill. Teach your child to problem solve and brainstorm different ways they can handle the conflict. For additional strategies, follow the QR code below.
