Industrial Revolution Summary
The Industrial Revolution is a time period when new inventions were made to make life easier and which also made skilled labor obsolete. Children were forced to work in factories which was called child labor, child labor is the employment of children that were under the age of physical maturity requiring long hours.
Cotton Gin
The Cotton Gin was an invention during the Industrial Revolution that made separating the excess things from the cotton.
Child Labor
Children were forced to work and if the didn't do their job they were punished in different ways like being whipped or hit in the head with a pole.
Chiquola Mill
This is a mill in our very own town were human labor happened, there was a revolt here in Honea Path, years ago, and 7 people were shot and died!
The Possitive Side
Even though the Industrial Revolution had a very large negative side to it, it also had some positive. The inventions during the Industrial Revolution helped make work much easier. With the new inventions, work was much quicker!
Assembly Line
An assembly is when a product is passed down to each person and every person does one thing and at the end of the line, you have a finished product.
Steam Engine
A steam engine was another invention in the industrial revolution it was an engine that runs on steam and it was a way of transportation for goods and people.
The Telegraph
The telegraph is a long distance communication device that is used to send messages. The telegraph was invented by Samuel Morse.
