Pastor Mary Beth's Musings
“The Bible? … It’s a guide book.”
“It’s inspired, but filled with inaccuracies.”
“It’s a storybook, written by someone about some characters, just like any other book you can get at the library.”
“The most trustworthy book ever written.”
“Nothing more than a collection of myths.”
Every major denomination of Christianity affirms a similar commitment to the authority and inspiration of the Bible. They may do so with different words and emphases, but in the end all Christians look to the Bible as a source of truth about God, themselves, and what they must do in order to be in a proper relationship with God. Is their trust in the Bible well-founded? Is the Bible reliable?
According to The Barna Group, 80% of Americans believe that the Bible is sacred text, but only 43% of American Christians firmly believe that the Bible is accurate in all of its principles.
This Sunday, we’ll address Question 6 of The 7 Big Questions: Is the Bible Reliable? Spoiler alert: this pastor says “Yes!” But we’ll unpack HOW we can know it is reliable AND relevant 2000+ years later.
I’m praying for you. I hope you’re praying for me.
Glory to God!

Gospel of John Study During Lent
The Gospel of John is the most deeply spiritual of the four gospels. It includes some of the loftiest and most loved verses in all the Bible. This Lent, join Pastor Mary Beth and experience a season of spiritual growth and life-changing renewal while reading the entire Gospel of John. The group will meet at 9:45 a.m. Sundays from February 21 through April 3, and use Adam Hamilton’s “John: The Gospel of Light and Life.” Sign up to participate in the Welcome Center.
