To Do List:
- Report Cards: You technically have until November 7th (the first conference day) to finalize report cards; but most will want to focus and utilize work day on the 1st to finish the 1st quarter report cards. Just don't forget to do them! Specialists historically have finished their grades on the 1st so classroom teachers can print/organize.
- Parent Core Night: Thursday, Nov. 21st from 6:30-8:00 will be our Parent Core Night in a variety of grade levels/classrooms. As a team start thinking of what parents most need to be taught at your level and who is able to help! Watch for a shared document to come out soon to sign up on.
- Observation #1 (Certified Staff Only): Schedule it with Val, if you wish or just get it when I walk in! :)
- Headphones: If you have school headphones stored in your rooms (beyond what you need on each desktop computer); would you consider bringing them to Val's office for us to label/count/bundle them to stay with each laptop cart? We have sets that stay with iPads now; but are still struggling with finding all the headphones that could live with each laptop cart.
- Sunshine Club: Did you contribute?
- Oct. 31: 3 Goals & Self Assessment: Certified Staff Only
- Oct. 31: Certified Leadership Premium Application Due (Just put your name on the white paper - do NOT fill it in. This is your 'letter of interest'. I will then be giving you a copy to document on it as a 'time sheet' for year end verification.
- Nov. 1: Deadline to join our own PTA ($15.00 via the PTA website/from our school website). There is a talk that you could get extra points on PTA grants if you are a member. :)
- March 22: Deadline to submit any student Patriotism Essays (per the Lions Club Contest - hanging by the downstairs copy machine). Paricipate with your students, if you wish.
- March Board Mtg. Any MDEF Grants must be submitted for pre-approval.
- OPTIONAL: Interested in reading a book from home (or wherever) on a specific date from our PTA Facebook page? Sign here here if so.
Staff Notes:
- PTC Scheduling "Bookings": Check your calendar to see how it's looking. If you see errors or duplication; you should be able to contact parents/clean it up. We did catch that some of our 'prescheduled EL/translation conference' families may have booked online in addition to the time we saved for them. You'll just need to communicate that with Sarah Covault to cancel one.
- PTA Food for Conferences: Our amazing PTA is working on hosting a light dinner on Thursday, Nov. 7th from 4:30-5:30 and some light breakfast snacks on Friday, Nov. 8th from 8:00-11:30.
- Nov. 1: No School: Teacher Training from 8:00-10:00 (We will revisit our talk on "reflection" and try to fit in a quick reflection on iStation administration / Teacher Work Day from 10:00-3:30 (purpose is to finalize grades/report cards).
- Report Cards: Be sure all teachers are finished and attandance/tardies are done BEFORE you print/finalize report cards on Nov. 1st. (ie. Music, PE). Remember that many teachers need this day to finalize and enter all grades. You will save these to give parents at PTC on Nov. 7 & 8. Duplication/requested report cards can be mailed.
- Consent for MOSS: We are working on getting an email out to parents in grades K, 1, and 3 with a special consent parents must fill out for our MOSS participation this year. For those who don't do it online; we will be getting a paper enrollment form we will be asking teachers to give parents/collect during conference times.
- iPad Carts & Laptop Carts: We are now going to focus on getting headphones that can stay with each laptop cart. Thank you for being so great about this new 'sharing/checkout' plan we must follow.
- BRMES Staff (+1 adult guest) Christmas Party: Thank you to Karen (& Bill) Borg for offering to host us again at their home for a holiday gathering. Start finding those babysitters. It will be Saturday, December 14th from 6-10 PM! Sticking to tradition, you are invited to bring a $5. or less gift / adult that is 'Garden themed'.
- Certified Leadership Premiums: Sorry it was so confusing. If you wish to be considered after this school year; you must turn in the white form with JUST your name/assignment/date on it. DO NOT FILL IT IN! This serves as your 'letter of interest'. Once the deadline is up (Oct. 31), I will then make you a copy to serve as a 'TIME SHEET' that you will track on it throughout the year to turn in by the spring deadline. (I'll remind you). Awards are based on whomever is in the top 75% of the most time served in leadership positions beyond contract time.
- Into Reading Training: Nov. 18, Jan. 17, March 13, and May 15. We will be trying to get multiple subs and put them on a rotation so that each team will have the opportunity/time with Colleen. This also means any preplanned sick or personal days will likely be denied unless a sub can be found.
