Pericles
445 B.C.
Pericles was our gift from Athena. This statesman brought Athena to its height of glory and power. He is still alive today and is making Athens a more powerful and better place. Pericles fought in the Peloponnesian War. He later became a statesman and began the Golden Age of Athens.Pericles had three goals. He wanted to strengthen the Athenian democracy. He wanted to maintain and strengthen Athens. Third, he wanted to glorify Athens. He has achieved all three goals. At first, Pericles developed the Delian League. Pericles promoted the arts and literature, advancing out culture. He started the Acropolis project, building the Parthenon in honor of Goddess Athena. He even used a direct democracy. Pericles has glorified our nation. Thus, we will name this time the Age of Pericles.
Socrates and Plato on Democracy
387 B.C
Socrates believes our democracy is not of best stature. Everyone who participates are "unskilled and not smart," as said by Socrates himself. He also said most of our male citizens are ignorant of political events. Socrates and his disciple, Plato, believe the government should be entrusted to the skilled and intelligent. To them government is an art, craft, and skill. What is it to you guys?Socrates and Plato are both philosophers. Socrates said "I wanted to be a philosopher because Pythagoras inspired me to do so." Socrates has been teaching Plato, another great philosopher. If any of you want to learn more about the government, read his book called The Republic.
New Type of Play
416 B.C
Aeschylus is one of the two writers who dominates Greek drama. He wrote many plays, and created a new type of play. Aeschylus created a tragedy, a play where the main character suffers many consequences. His plays teaches us a lesson. As he told us, do not commit crime or sin.Sophocles is the other dramatist who nearly monopolized Greek drama. He wrote tragedies, just as Aeschylus, however, Sophocles wrote more plays than Aeschylus. Sophocles' most famous play, Oedipus, is about a tragic hero whose fate is to kill his father and ruin the family. It taught the audience about fate. All of these plays have a lesson to them, making it the most popular type of play today.
Goddess Athena and the Phidias
431 B.C
Praise Athena, the Goddess who protects our city of Athens. Athena is the Goddess of wisdom, strength, strategy, and skill. We, the Athenians, will be relying on Athena to defeat our Spartan foes. Athena will give us the wit and strategies to outsmart the Spartans for a glorious victory, just as she helped Odysseus in the Odyssey. We honored Athena with the construction of the Parthenon, thanks to Pericles and Phidias.Phidias is renowned as one of the greatest sculptors of Greece. He was involved in many ambitious and wonderful Athenian and Greek projects. Pericles appointed Phidias to design and create the Parthenon dedicated to the Goddess Athena. He designed the statue of Athena in the Parthenon. He also built one of the ancient wonders of the world, the Statue of Zeus at Olympia. Phidias truly does honor the Goddess Athena with his artwork.

Peloponnesian War
431 B.C
Who will win, Athens or Sparta?Athens is the largest city in Greece and is the shining example of Greece and our culture. Sparta is just a city down to the south. We have a much more advanced culture. Athens is a national learning center for science and the arts. Our philosophers are much more intelligent than any man of Sparta, and Sparta doesn't even have philosophers. Our people continue to advance and get more intelligent. The Spartans on the other hand don't have open minds and are stuck in the advancement of anything but war. We have great entertainment because of Aeschylus and Sophocles, the Spartans don't have that much entertainment.
Continuing on, although the Spartans have a super soldier like military on land, we have a super soldier like sailing fleet of our own. Our democracy makes our government more free and far better than the Spartan oligarchy. Giving women rights, are Spartans crazy? The countless other city states of the Delian League will aid us. Only a few of your Peloponnesian allies will help the city of Sparta. Famous people such as Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, and Pericles come from Athens. Which famous person comes from Sparta, nobody. Best of all, the Goddess Athena is protecting us. May Athena guide us and lead us to victory against the Spartans. We will win this war.
