Whats Up in 1st Grade....

Dear Friends & Families,

I hope everyone has had an excellent weekend! The weeks are flying by and 2nd grade is getting closer and closer!

  • This next week, we will study the short and long “U” sounds for spelling, and work on writing a personal narrative story. In math, we will learn about skip counting by 2, 5, 10. Finally, in science, we will finish our plant unit {parts of a plant & the plant life cycle}.

  • The upper grades will take the STAAR test this week. Students can wear their favorite “sports or school team” shirts to help cheer on the 4th and 5th graders on their state assessments. Also, there will be no visitors in the building and NO afterschool tutoring on Tuesday or Thursday! End of 9 weeks report cards will be going home on Friday! Only 9 weeks of 1st grade left!

Have a great Sunday and let me know if you have any questions!

Thanks for all you do and have a fabulous week,

Mrs. McClure
