The #1 ranked Chandler Wolves beat Salpointe 24-16 on Saturday to move into the Open Division State Championship finals. BEAUTIFUL MADNESS
Last Thursday’s Beautiful Madness Dance Concert featured 16 outstanding pieces choreographed and danced by CHS Modazz, Advanced, and Improv dancers. Congratulations to Ms. Kathie Buren, Dance Teacher and Artistic Director, and all of the students who performed on stage and/or helped behind stage. It was a beautiful and moving concert!
DANCE DONATES TURKEYS
Modazz and the CHS Dance Department donated $750.00 in turkeys to the CARE Center for the holidays. The students and their dance teacher, Mrs. Kathie Buren, have been donating to the CARE center for nearly 30 years and have donated close to $13,000.00 in turkeys since 1991! Way to go!
CARE CENTER FOOD DRIVE
Thanks to everyone who participated in CHS’s food drive to benefit the Chandler Care Center! StuCo delivered boxes upon boxes of donated goods to the center to be distributed during the holidays. On Saturday, several CHS students helped distribute food and other items to 350 Chandler families.

NHS ANGEL TREE
As in years past, CHS is adopting some of our own students who could use some holiday magic. Community members who are interested in being a part of National Honor Society’s Angel Tree tradition are encouraged to come to the front office, choose an angel, sign in, and deliver the unwrapped gift(s) to the front office by Tuesday, December 10th. Thanks so much for your support!
NHS BLOOD DRIVE
Chandler High’s National Honor Society organizes four blood drives a year. It is the students’ goal to receive 40-50 donors during each drive, which helps save over 500 lives. The next blood drive is February 25th. Thanks to NHS for sponsoring the event and for everyone who came out to donate blood!
GCU VISIT
Last Friday, students had a terrific collegiate adventure while touring GCU. They were able to experience college life first hand and learn how to achieve their educational goals.

2020 MAYOR’S TEEN LEADERSHIP ACADEMY
The 2020 Mayor's Teen Leadership Academy applications are now open. You can apply by visiting the Mayor's Teen Leadership website. The class will run March 16-20, 2020 from 9 a.m. to noon each day.
The Teen Leadership Academy is a free, five-day program held during the spring school intersession that teaches participants about the inner-workings of municipal government, from the Mayor and Council office to every department in the City.
Applications close December 13, 2019.

We welcome current 8th grade students to visit Chandler High School during our Student Shadow Days. 8th grade students will be paired with a 9th grade Student Ambassador who is currently participating in the IB Middle Years Program at CHS. YOUTH MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID TRAININGS
Youth Mental Health First Aid is designed to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis. Youth Mental Health First Aid is primarily designed for adults who regularly interact with young people. The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, substance use, disorders in which psychosis may occur, disruptive behavior disorders (included ADHD), and eating disorders.
