Weekly Updates From CHS9 - 1/17/22
Welcome to the weekly CHS9 Parent Newsletter
Week in Review
I hope everyone had a restful long weekend and took a moment to appreciate Martin Luther King Jr. Day. My favorite quote from Dr. King is below:
"Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that."
I hope we can all remember these words illustrating the power in loving others, and I hope we can all seek to practice that each day.
Since we have a short week this week, please remember we will have Hour Block Lunch on Tuesday - Friday this week and we will not have Family Friday on Friday.
I do not have too many new updates this week, but check below just in case!
Looking forward to another great week at CHS9!

CHS9 Campus Fundraiser
We are currently raising funds for our Campus Activity Fund, which supplements our campus budget and is used to provide additional support for our students and staff that cannot be covered through the local budget. This includes student and staff appreciation materials and activities, student incentives, awards and recognitions, and other items not available using the campus budget. Every campus has a campus activity fund, which plays a vital role in supporting students and staff. Since our campus is only three years old, and we started with an empty fund as a new campus, we are still working to build it up. Our normal fundraising efforts were very difficult last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic (vending machines, restaurant nights, photography commissions) and as a result, our Campus Activity Fund is struggling.

Student ID Badges
As part of our CISD and CHS9 Campus Security Protocols, all students must always have their school ID on a lanyard and around their neck or clipped to their shirt while on campus. Any student that is found to be without their ID badge on campus will be immediately directed to the front office to obtain a temporary ID badge. The consequences for excessive ID badge violations are as follows:
· 4th violation – Hour Block Lunch Detention
· 5th violation – Hour Block Lunch Detention X 2
· 6th violation – Friday Night Live
· 7th and subsequent violations – Assistant Principal’s Discretion
Replacement badges are available for purchase in the front office for a fee of $5.00. Your student may also purchase a replacement lanyard for an additional $1.00. Payments must be made by cash, exact change only.
*Additionally, students who are not wearing their permanent ID badge will not be allowed to leave the cafeteria during HBL to go to areas of choice. Students without an ID badge or with a temporary ID badge will be allowed to go to tutoring only.
