No Homework!

Well, at least no formal reading or math homework will be sent home this week! :) Please use the next two weeks to change up your homework routine. Spend time singing math songs from our Monday Message links, review all short vowel spelling words from previous lists, spend some time on Raz-Kids or iStation, read a few books and add them to the 25 Book Challenge form, and/or practice addition and subtraction facts to 20. Above all, have fun and enjoy this opportunity to individualize your child's learning!

Heritage Day, November 21st

Heritage Day is a time-honored tradition at Grapevine Elementary School. This event is planned as a celebration of both our students’ and community’s rich heritage, as we recognize Grandparent’s Day and Veteran’s Day. GES students may invite their grandparents and/or special guests to attend the celebration. Heritage Day activities include individual classroom projects and a musical performance. The program will begin at 8:15, and will be video streamed to classrooms for guests to watch. Grandparents and special guests of 1st grade students are invited to watch the performance from our classrooms and stick around for some fun afterward. Parking will be limited; please encourage your child's guest(s) to walk or carpool.

Dallas Arboretum Field Trip

Unfortunately, cold temperatures kept us from attending our field trip to the Dallas Arboretum last week. We appreciate everyone's patience and understanding, as we know how disappointing this is to students and parents alike. We have worked with the arboretum to secure a new date in the spring, March 19th!

Change of Clothes

In the clinic, our nurse has only a few pieces of warm clothing in very limited sizes. Please send a full set of cold weather back up clothing in your child's backpack in case he/she requires a change of clothing at school. Place the outfit in a ziplock bag labeled with your child's name. If you have elementary sized clothing your child has outgrown, Ms. Burwell is accepting donations of gently used clothing. Thank you!
