Mustang Weekly News
February 4, 2022
Principal's Message:
The second semester is busy with academics, extra activities, athletics, and family things. We keep an old-school dry-erase board at home with the weekly happenings on the counter, so we hopefully won't miss anything. These strategies model for my boys how to keep a schedule for themselves. I encourage them to keep a digital calendar on their phone to keep track of all their practices, due dates, assessments, haircuts, work schedules, etc. This process helps them develop independence, planning, and priorities. Middle school is the perfect time to develop these habits.
In our weekly advisory classes, we have discussed students' goals, future plans, skills, etc. We want students to see school applications to their futures for college/career readiness. Please ask them what goals they have set and their educational/work interests. We will continue these lessons over the next few weeks and provide updates in our newsletters.
Have a wonderful week!

Future Husky Enrollment
Please read the attached newsletter regarding future freshman enrollment. School closure for the weather changed the meeting date. We will update that information as soon as we have it. Counselors will meet with students the week of February 14th to enroll and discuss their course plan. If students are absent on this day counselors will meet with those students on Friday, February 18th. Until then use this to discuss enrollment with your child.
Girls Wrestling Tournament
Your Edmond North lady Huskies had a dominant performance at the Broken Arrow girls wrestling tournament last Saturday. The girls finished 4th overall despite bringing one of the smallest teams. Individually we had 5 medalists. Charlotte Pratt finished 3rd, and Clover Williams finished second. Alexis Ray and Madelynn Ingram both finished first in their brackets. Aubrey Brown was absolutely dominant, pinning her way through a tough bracket to earn gold as well as several outstanding wrestler votes. Great job ladies!
Valentine Grams
It's almost Valentine's Day! Buy a Candy Gram from FCCLA and we'll deliver it to your friends, teachers and staff on Valentine's Day. Visit our Valentine Store located in the Commons next Tuesday through Friday, before Advisory, 7:10-7:35am. All Candy Grams are $1. If you're sending to a friend, you must know which Advisory class they are in for it to be delivered.

Please Remind Your Child About Their Student IDs
EVERY student was issued a Student ID Badge at the beginning of the year or when they arrived to Cheyenne. We have reissued IDs to those students who have repeatedly printed stickers. Per the District Policy, this MUST be worn EVERY day with the district-issued lanyard and the picture must face out. 6th graders are maroon, 7th grade green, and 8th grade blue.
If your student does not have their badge they will need to print a temporary badge for the day as they enter the school. We have three kiosks.
It is VERY important that the student remember their badge each and every day. A temporary badge should only be needed on a rare occasion not for everyday use.
Please continue to remind your child to put their badge in the same spot every day so that they have it with them every day. AS they walk out the door or get into the car ask them these two thingsā¦ Do you have your ID? Is your Chromebook charged?
Student IDs help us know who should be present on our campus, they are also used to check-in and out of the office, to scan for lunch, and to checkout books in the library.

DROPPING OFF ITEMS
We ask that you check with your student before they walk out the door and make sure they are prepared for the day. This includes having their, Chromebook, ID and Lunch. If your student does forget their lunch or something they need for school, we have a cart in our front lobby with grade levels. This will be rolled back into the common area for the students to pick up their items during passing. Please drop off LUNCHES or SCHOOL SUPPLIES ONLY.
If you are dropping off an instrument or athletic equipment we will place this by the back office door for them to come up and get during their passing or after school. Please make arrangements with your student regarding these items and where to retrieve them.
