From the Principal...
Dear MacArthur Families,
It was wonderful to see so many of you at conferences. We certainly have a lot to celebrate here at MacArthur. Seeing scholars grow, and watching them recognize and feel pride over their growth and accomplishments, is a big WHY to our purpose here. I appreciate your partnership in your scholar's education journey. We are better together.
On Friday, March 24, our students will be participating in a morning or afternoon of play (depending on their grade level).
This โday of playโ is being modeled after Global School Play Day (GSPD). GSPD was started by a small group of 6 educators in 2015 who wanted to promote unstructured collaborative learning opportunities. They knew that unstructured play is a vital part of child development, so they created a global school play day. This โmovementโ spread across the globe, and last year over 385,000 students from 58 countries participated.
We are inviting all of our students to bring in things to play with on this very special day. Here are some examples of things your child may bring in:
Non-Violent Toys (no weapons)
Legos
Dress-Up (no full-body costumes)
Puppets
Stuffed Animals
Board Games
Puzzles
Card Games
***No Electronic devices/sports equipment
Though our play day will be unstructured, it will still be supervised by teachers. It is our hope that as a school, we will provide our students with opportunities to use their imaginations on their social, emotional, and problem solving skills as we focus on this monthโs value word: Cooperation!
Sincerely,
Mr. Gonzalez

2022-23 School Year District Calendar
Notes from the Office:
School Number: Please note that when you receive a phone call from MAC, it does not show up as the number you should call when trying to reach our school. Please make sure you have the correct number when trying to call our front office: 262-253-3468.
Extra Clothes: As winter is still rearing it's head and spring is upon us, we are experiencing wet recesses. When it is especially wet, your child may come inside with wet pants or socks. Please remember to have a set of extra clothes come to school with your child. The health room does not have enough extra clothes for wet days.
After School Hours and Access to the School: After the students are dismissed, please do not go to the Kids' Klub doors to get access into the school. Kids' Klub will not be permitting people to come through Door 2. Unfortunately we cannot have families/students come through after school is over and the items forgotten will need to be retrieved the next school day. It is a safety and liability concern to have individuals in the school unsupervised. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
4K and 5K Registration: Our 2023-24 school year online registration period for 4K and 5K* students is ongoing. 4K is a half day preschool program, and 5K is a full day kindergarten program.
*Registration is just for new families entering the district. If you currently have a 4K student at MacArthur, you do not need to go through the entire online registration process for them to enter 5K in the 23/24 school year. You will need to "verify" their attendance for 5K during the summer months (an email will be sent via Skyward in July). Please note that proof of residency and immunization documents can be uploaded online, but birth certificates need to come into our office at MacArthur to be verified in person. For more information on GSD's 4K program, please click here.
Open enrollment for NON-RESIDENT students closes on April 28th at 4pm.
More enrollment information and specifics can be found here. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact the office.
Summer School: Registration for classes began on March 16th (via Skyward), and the deadline for signing up is April 14th. More information on our summer school sessions can be found here.
If you would like to join a waitlist for a class that is full, email Doris Berget at dberget@gsdwi.org.
Notes from the Health Room:
24-Hour Rule: As a reminder, if your child has a fever of 100 degrees or above, has diarrhea, or is vomiting, they need to be out of school until they are symptom-free for 24 hours.
