The Coin Drive also continues through the Book Fair, so please continue brining any extra change you may have! Donations will go for new books at the Adams library, and Scholastics will match the money made and donate for books to kids in need!

Adams Parents’ Community Night
Come learn, laugh, and lend a hand! You are invited to the first ever Adams Parents’ Community Night on Tuesday, November 5th from 6:30 – 7:30 in the library. To help foster a welcoming and supportive environment for our parents, these events will be held periodically throughout this year and will feature a guest speaker, a chance to socialize with other parents, and some hands-on tasks that will directly support our staff and students. You can have fun, be informed, and feel accomplished all in one night!
During this first event, Principal Beth Martin will be sharing information with us on the school’s new social-emotional curriculum and fielding questions from parents on bond progress and other happenings at Adams. We will then get a chance to socialize and get to know other Adams parents with some snacks while we staple, stuff (envelopes), sort and support our school!
Free child care will be provided in the gym. No need to reserve a spot, just show up! We hope you will join us and help make this community night a success!
Walk and Bike to School Day
Walk & Bike to School is scheduled on the first Wednesday of each month and we need your help! Our goal is to recognize the students who have walked or biked to school that day. We need volunteers to help staff the tables at the entrance to the school to distribute participation tickets and fruit leather. We also need volunteers positioned at Western View to help safely walk with the students who are dropped by the bus or their parents at that area. Please sign up here https://signup.com/go/oLHNfcL for the volunteer position that interests you. Thank you for your willingness to help!
***All dates have been posted if you'd prefer to sign up for your desired times now***
Pe and wellness news
PE NEWS Students entered the gym and ran around the cones to practice Jog-a-thon pace: not too fast, not too slow. In pairs, students worked with slam balls to work on core and upper body strength. We then played a rousing game of "Battleship," a game in which students are knocking down and protecting a set of bowling pins. A big part of that game is being honest about following the rules so it is fun for everyone. WELLNESS NEWS Thanks to all who came to last night's Open Gym, Bingo, and Book Fair night. Thursday was the monthly AIM Class Challenge to see which class can have the most students on the AIM course. Ms. Kittle's class won the coveted first place trophy. Rodgriguez's and Sharp's classes tied for second. Joos and Davis tied for third. It was amazing to see a parade of students on our chipped path on a beautiful fall morning. Adams in Motion is every T, W, and Th. Yoga is every M and F at break. Next week your child will bring home a list of Random Acts of Kindness to continue October's theme.
OBOB
Now at Adams: OBOB (Oregon Battle of the Books) a state-wide fall/winter event for 3rd - 5th graders. Students have formed their teams and should return their parent/guardian permission slips as soon as possible. OBOB is needing only three more volunteers for OBOB to run smoothly this year. You would work with the student teams for 30 minutes a week from November to early February (you pick the day). Please visit https://signup.com/go/tRcpAHo to volunteer. For more information please ask the office or contact Tracy Erwin, tlerwin1@gmail.com or visit https://www.oregonbattleofthebooks.org/

If your package has a traditional Box Top clip, cut it off and send it into school.
If your package has a Scan Your Receipt Box Top, download the free Box Tops for Education App, set your school for Adams Elementary School, and scan your grocery receipts. It's fast and easy!
