URCEO Family Newsletter
April 7, 2021
Dear URCEO Families,
Today is the final instructional day of the third term. For some of our families, this is farewell as their children prepare to return to in-person school in their neighborhoods. We appreciate the time with you and wish you the best as you return to traditional school.
With the change in state guidance and a successful transition to hybrid learning, our district wants our K-8 neighborhood schools to focus on what they do best for the last quarter of the school year, and that is in-person instruction. For EPSD9 families that want their K-8 children to remain remote learners, this means they will be transferring to URCEO.
Your K-8 children will see new classmates beginning April 12th. Additionally, we are welcoming two teachers, Ms. Ritchie from Hillside Elementary and Ms. Schorr from Table Rock Elementary. Ms. Ritchie is joining us with the 2-3 graders she's been teaching since CDL shifts in January. Ms. Schorr will have a combined class of TRE and URCEO kindergarteners and first graders.
We continue to welcome your feedback and appreciate your patience. I'm both stunned and delighted that we are about to kick off our final term of the year. It is my sincere hope that our families who plan to return for next school year will take part in our parent advisory meetings this spring. More on that to come!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Green

About: Attendance Calls
Attendance has been a pain point for some of our families since the RoboCalls, the automated attendance calls from the district, were reinstated in February. We appreciate everyone’s patience and efforts in helping us improve attendance communication. Our hope is to provide clarification on the specific concerns we are working to address.
The first frustration we are addressing: Parents have to call the high school regarding attendance.
Our response: Parents can now speak with an URCEO staff member when they get an attendance call. We introduced Mrs. Sitowski last month as our newest office team member at URCEO. She has taken over attendance and can be reached at 541.830.6258. She is available from 7:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. She may be away from the desk so please do not hesitate to leave a voicemail and she will follow up with you. This means parents will no longer have to call the high school or Mrs. Kyla Stockton regarding attendance.
We will review how attendance is taken in the mid-month newsletter. A brief reminder in the meantime: Monday and Thursday SynchMeets (Zoom class sessions) are mandatory attendance and is the predominant method for reporting attendance on those days. These absences will trigger robocalls. Adjustments to attendance based on work completed or late arrival to a SynchMeet will be completed at the end of the school day.
