Note From the Principal...
Dear Brentwood Families,
Our first week of ISTEP testing has finished - please make sure your students continue to get plenty of rest and eat a nutritious breakfast every day!
Please join me in congratulating Mrs. Stacy Davis, our wonderful 3rd grade teacher, who has been chosen as Brentwood's Teacher of the year!
Enjoy your weekend,
Ms. Vamos
Students of the Week
Games Club: Swampland Week
Staff MVP of the Week ~ Miss Chelsea Exner, Special Education Instructional Assistant
Chelsea has been a Special Education Aide at Brentwood for nearly two years. In the past she has interned at both The Children's Museum of Indianapolis and Walt Disney World in Florida. She has lived in Plainfield her entire life (except for 5 magical months in Florida!) and graduated from Plainfield High School in 2006. Her Mom, Debbie, is the assistant managing broker at Carpenter Realtors in Plainfield and her father, Jim, works on large engine transmission repairs at Mascot. Chelsea also has "a sassy kitty named Smokie, and a playful dog, Boomer."
Miss Exner's Faves:
Color ~ ALL shades of blue
Movie ~ Any Disney movie you can think of
TV Show ~ Once Upon a Time
Book ~ The Bible
Music ~ Chelsea LOVES the Celtic harp and Native American flute
Flower ~ Iris
Restaurant ~ Texas Roadhouse
Candy ~ "I haven't met a chocolate I didn't like"
When not at Brentwood, Chelsea enjoys taking Boomer for walks, watching Detroit Red Wings games, and playing cards with "my Nana".
What is the most interesting place you have been? "The most interesting place I've ever been is on the shuttle to Epcot. International interns from all over the world are sitting on the bus. There were conversations in 7 different languages going on at the same time!"
What is a teacher/student moment you remember fondly? "I don't think I could narrow dozens of moments to a specific one. Rather, it is the privilege of helping and seeing the students attain and surpass goals that are special to me."
Chelsea's advice to parents: "I believe one of the best ways for a parent to get involved in their child's education is to cultivate a child's curiosity. Read together about the subject and provide resources to continue learning and growing. He or she may be the next great botanist, astronomer, or writer!"
Fellow Special Education Aide, Mrs. Jody Davis says, "Chelsea is a wonderful asset to our program! She has a heart of gold and wants to see our students do their very best everyday. I can always count on Chelsea to help wherever there is a need."

Value of the Month Student ~ March ~ "Reliability"
Mrs. Sutton writes, "I can always count on Lily to give her best effort. Even when faced with a difficult task, I know Lily is always going to do her very best. I can depend on her to work carefully and do the very best job she can do. I can also count on her to have a good attitude. She never complains, she just gets the job done. Finally, I can always rely on Lily to be a kind, caring person. She is considerate of her classmates and treats everyone with respect. Lily is a wonderful student to teach because I can rely on her to show excellence in her attitude and her effort. She is really an amazing person!"

Transportation & Dismissal Info
All car riders arriving in the morning should be dropped off in our car rider lane NOT in our Visitor Parking lot. This ensures they are not crossing over any traffic. If you child is being dropped off late an adult must come into the office with them to sign them in.
If your child rides the bus to school and will be eating breakfast in the cafeteria please talk to them about going straight to the cafeteria to get their breakfast. This will give them the most time to eat a healthy breakfast possible.
Dismissal Changes:
- If you need to change your child's dismissal instructions the best way to do this is to send a signed note into your child's teacher.
- If this is impossible please call the office NO LATER THAN 3:00 p.m. to ensure the dismissal change gets to your child's teacher in a timely matter.
Transportation:
If you are permanently changing how your child goes home or if you move please notify our office at 317-839-4802, as well as Transportation at 317-838-3632, and submit a new Transportation Form to the office.
