The Weekly Hoot
August 4 - August 10, 2014
Greetings All -
Hope all is well in your world!
First off, the important stuff. Brooks Wellborn was taken off his ventilator on Wednesday and is doing GREAT!!! :) Please keep the prayers coming because they are working!
Where has summer gone??? New Teacher Staff Development begins Monday!!!!! We have made so much progress at school, but there is still so much left to do!
For all of you new teachers, you should have received a letter and a schedule of the staff development days for Monday-Thursday. Business casual is the dress code (think what you would wear to teach school when it's not a jean day) on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. On Thursday, you are more than welcome to wear jeans. We will begin each day at theJH/HS campus at 8:00. See ya there!
All teachers will be getting letters and schedules in the mail this week for the Beginning of the School Year Staff Development. We have worked hard this year to make it worth your while. I think you will be very pleased!
When you attend your third day of training this summer, please get me the certificate so I can mark you off of the list. I would like to have all of that done before school begins and give it to Margaret so we don't have to go hunting for certificates during the school year. You can either email it to me or physically give me one to put in your file.
All classrooms (new and old) have been waxed. All hallways except for the new hallway have been waxed. You are officially allowed back in the building on Monday! Thank you Lee, David, Sam McClosky, Alejandra, and Genoveva for working so hard to make sure we are ready for the first day of school.
In order to get started on our theme of "Around the World in 180 Days", I would like to have a hallway decorating party. I was thinking we could do it on Thursday, August 7. We could get started around 8:30 or 9. If you can come, please let me know. I will get pizza for you for lunch! I will be going to lunch with our new teachers, but I know I gotta feed ya to get you up here! LOL! Here is a listing of which hallways have which continents:
Main foyer and library - South America
Red Hall - Australia
Yellow Hall - Africa
Green Hall - North America
Blue Hall - Asia
Blue Hall (New Addtion) - Europe
Main Hallway - Antarctica
Also, even though our hallway display case is going to be decorated each month by our parent volunteers, I thought it would be fun to do the "teacher picture" thing for the first month of school and then let the parent volunteers begin at the end of September with the October-themed case. Soooo.... I need a picture of you from when you were in Elementary School. If you have one of your school pictures, that would be the best. I would like for it to be at least a 5x7 so that they take up room in the case. Please get these pictures to Jennifer Corzine by Friday, August 15th. The sooner the better though, so we can get the display up. Thanks in advance!
Please don't forget to respond to your Punchbowl invitation about our Back-to-School BBQ. I will need to know how much BBQ to get and the only way I can do that is with RSVP. When you RSVP, please indicate if you are bringing a guest and then go to the potluck section and indicate if you can bring any of the items listed. The last day to RSVP and be counted in is Tuesday, August 12th.
It looks like from the survey that the majority of you wanted to do Grandparents' Day lunches on different days for different grade levels. We will try that this year to see how it works. The grandparents can come in and eat with their grandchildren. There will be cookies and tea provided by PTO for them in the cafeteria each day.
Remember to text me pool pics, vacation pics, camp pics, workshop pics, etc... for the Hoot so we can keep up with each other this summer.
Everyone have a great week!
Soaring with you this year,
Marcy
