What a wonderful week we have had as we celebrated Read Across America Week and Dr. Seuss's birthday today! Our week kicked off with #JustaChicken followed by favorite Storybook Character Dress Day. Our final day included many guest readers and green eggs and ham! What a delightful week! It is all about the reading!
Many thanks to those of you who were able to complete the booklet with addresses of friends and family. These addresses do not go on any mailing lists and is an opportunity for us to obtain free subscriptions to TIME FOR KIDS. This saves us almost $3,000.00. Thank you! Please know that no one must buy any magazines for this to benefit us. If you still have these, you may still send them in on Monday. Again, thank you!
Thank you also for sending in your BoxTops for Education! Even though the contest is over, please continue to save these for our school. This is free money as you have already purchased the product. PTO will clip and mail these in to collect...this is a win-win! Thank you!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend! Read, exercise and spend quality time with your family.
Yours truly,
Jan Fickling, Principal of Midway Elementary

Midway Celebrates Dr. Seuss all week!
Thank you to all our guest readers for NEA's Read Across America Day at Midway!!
Here is some background for Read Across America Day:
It began in 1997 with the idea from an NEA's task to have a pep rally for reading. So the idea of Read Across America Day, which celebrates Dr. Seuss's birthday and the joys of reading, was born. Today we expect more than 45 million readers, both young and old, to pick up a book and read.
For more information NEA's Read Across America, visit www.nea.org/readacross and www.readacrossamerica.org and learn of other reading celebrations that are happening from coast to coast.
