You are Our Father, you live in heaven
We talk to you, Father you are good
We believe your Word Father
We your children, give us bread today
We have done wrong, we are sorry
Help us Father not to sin again
Others have done wrong to us
And we are sorry for them, Father today
Stop us from doing wrong, Father
Save us all from the evil one
You are Our Father, you live in heaven
We talk to you, Father you are good.

From the Principal

Dear St Columba’s school community,

The weather has certainly turned it on this week, and I am sure everyone is enjoying the sunshine and small reprieve from the wind and rain!

Firstly, can I begin with a very big congratulations to Mr Leigh Chatt and the Year 5 and 6 Robocup teams on a wonderful achievement at the annual Robocup Challenge. The Robocup Challenge was on Friday and Saturday with the students competing against 70 other schools. Well done to our girls’ team as they took out second place overall! Thank you to Mr Chatt for facilitating this fantastic event for our students.

The Catholic Performing Arts is a major festival that the school participates in throughout Term 3. Classes perform at various venues across Perth against other CEWA schools. The Year 1’s started off the festival and impressed the judges with a piece in Christian Dance. The Year 2 students performed in the Choral Speech section and received wonderful comments from the judges. Thank you to Mrs Louise McDonald and classroom teachers for the time and effort that has gone into preparing the students for this event. Also, to our parents for their assistance with costumes.

On Tuesday I was greeted by a sea of fleecy pyjamas and oodies as all staff and students came to school dressed in their pyjamas to fundraise for LifeLink. The day started off with a lovely whole school assembly recognising the various LifeLink Agencies that the Perth Archdiocese supports. I am thrilled to say that we rasied a further $438, bringing the total to $1500 to be donated to LifeLink. Everyone should be very proud of the efforts that have been put into this fundraising event.

A reminder to parents that Kiss and Drive closes at 8:55am and that the side gate is locked at 9am. Please do not come through Kiss and Drive after this time and leave your child to walk in unassisted. Any student that arrives at school after 9am needs to come through the front office and sign in via the SEQTA Kiosk.

Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend!

God Bless

Christmas Fair News

Fair News

This week I'd like to share a really exciting partnership that we have made with Kensington Secondary School. Kensington Secondary is a local education support school that caters for children with moderate to severe disabilities. Their amazing students and super enthusiastic teachers make dog biscuits that they package and sell. All proceeds from the sales are donated to Guide Dogs Australia. We have extended them an invitation to join us in our market space, and they are now excitedly prepping for the event!

In addition to this, they have a horticultural department that are potting up plants in their lessons. They will work alongside our families to put on a fabulous plant stall.

One of our major goals for this fair is to really engage with the wider South Perth community and this partnership with Kensington Secondary is a very special part of that community engagement.

THIS WEEKS CALL OUT

Same as last week... so couldn't be easier!

Books and Toys

Who doesn’t love a good clear out?
We are looking for good condition second hand books, toys and games. The P&F plastic tubs will be placed in each classroom so please have a look around your home and donate what you can. We will be collecting them all this term.

Plants
Calling all green thumbs!
We will be having a plant sale at the fair. Get the kids out in the garden and pot up some plants now so they are rooted and ready to sell by November. I ask for every family in the school to donate at least one plant.

Have a lovely weekend all.... See you at the retro Bingo night!

Sr Maree

The Feast Day of Mary MacKillop is this coming Sunday.

Here are some fantastic reflections on how Mary lived and trusted God in so many ways. She shows us to be courageous, trust in God, to forgive and most of all love God and others on our journey. May Mary MacKillop continue to inspire you and your school community.
