Here's what's happening in MS this week!

Dear parents,
Please remember to send your child with winter gear this Friday! All MS students will be headed outside on Friday afternoon for homecoming activities.
ENGLISH
7th Grade: The school spelling bee will now be on Tuesday at 8:30. We will continue reading The Giver this week and we will have a test covering chapter 9 in the grammar book. Chapter 9 covers conjunctions, interjections, misplaced modifiers, and double negatives.

SOCIAL STUDIES
6th Grade: Ancient China Projects were due last Thursday. Students may still turn in late projects this week for partial credit. Grades have been posted in PowerSchool. We will be moving on to the study of Ancient Greece this week beginning with the Greek Alphabet.

MATH
6th Grade: We continue to work on measuring systems. Continue to practice online using IXL. We will have a test this week, Thursday. No class on Friday due to homecoming festivities!
7th Grade: 7th graders are working hard solving two step inequalities. Continue to practice online on IXL. We will have a quiz this Thursday. No class on Friday due to homecoming festivities!
8th Grade: We have started our chapter on solving systems of equations. Quiz scores are in power school and corrections and retakes should happen this week.
SCIENCE
6th Grade: Most students have started their research for independent science investigations. They have been given a guide and grading rubric. Students will need to turn in their results by February 8th. Students may work on their project at home or at school as long as they have the materials they need.
7th Grade: We have been learning about the Continental Drift Theory and Seafloor Spreading and how together they form the Theory of Plate Tectonics. This week we will exploring more details about Continental Drift through investigation stations.
8th Grade: We had a fun week testing natural selection by modifying Galapagos finch bird beaks and learning about speciation. We will continue to learn about the geologic time scale and the numerous mass extinction events.
ART
8th Grade: We will be finishing up our much anticipated celebrities portraits and hopefully by mid to end of the week start clay!
