To plan for course registration, there will be an assembly on Thursday, November 29th to review the course registration process and learn about new elective offerings. The presentation will be available online on Friday, November 30th for parents to review.
During the assembly, the counseling staff will review the registration process, and provide an overview of graduation requirements. Students will receive a course registration sheet they will be required to complete and return to the School Counseling Office by December 7th. Students will also be asked to bring the course registration sheet home to review with their parents.
Teachers will be entering student recommendation levels in PowerSchool during the week of December 3rd. Parents are encouraged to view the recommendations and discuss course selections with their child prior to course registration. Parents and students are urged to consult with current teachers and individual counselors for further information and evaluation of course choices.
The 2019-2020 Program of Studies will soon be available on our website (www.rsd6.org) for students, faculty, staff, and parents to view. In the meantime, we ask that you begin having conversations with your child about their course selection. Counselors will be meeting with students individually to review their course selections and answer any questions or concerns they may have during the next few months.
As students and parents go through the process of selecting courses for next year, please know that all students are required to carry a minimum of 6 classes per semester and 6 credits per year.
This is the first step of the course registration process for the 2019-2020 school year. This initial process is the “request stage”. In the following months, the course requests will be used to develop a master schedule for the 2019-2020 school year that best accommodates all student requests. It is important that students take time and select electives carefully. Their requests determine courses that will be offered in the Fall. Once the master schedule has been created, counselors will continue to meet individually with students who have scheduling conflicts identified. If counselors do not meet with a student during this process, it is understood that there are no conflicts with their course registration requests. Final schedules will then be available in June prior to the end of the school year. After June, no changes will be permitted without permission from Administration and the School Counseling Department.
Preparing all students for learning, living and achieving.
