“HIGH SCHOOL AND MIDDLE SCHOOL ART SHOW”
March is Youth Art Month, which is intended to promote art and art education in the United States. Wrightstown School District will be hosting an Elementary Art Show on Tuesday, Feb 12 from 4 -6:30 pm. Parents will have the opportunity to buy their student's artwork in a frame. The Middle School and High School will do a joint Art Show at the district Fine Arts Night Wednesday, May 15 from 6-8 pm. Awards will be presented at 7pm. Students will be celebrating and showcasing all of the creativity going on in our schools every day. The "Arts" encourage, inspire and nurture the ideals that are integral to student's daily life. Students learn to create, form opinions and be innovative with materials through creative and imaginative projects, assignments, and art events. Students in the Wrightstown art program are learning to be 21st century thinkers, who can work and compete in a global economy.
ATTENTION PARENTS We are in need of parent volunteers for the HS/MS Art Show on Wednesday, May 15. The art department is setting up the art show on Wednesday, May 15 from 1-5. We are taking the art show down at 8pm. Please inform Mrs. Ulman at ulman@wrightstown.k12.wi.us or Ms. Seidl at seidl@wrightstown.k12.wi.us if you want to volunteer for set-up, greeting/docent/attendance/food set up/food clean up or art show take down. Thank you very much and we look forward to seeing you at the HS/MS Art Show on the Fine Arts Night!
Important Reminder Sophomores and Juniors
A reminder to all juniors to review the Valedictorian and Salutatorian Designation in the Course Guide. In order to be eligible, students must have taken 25 credits by the end of the first semester senior year.
National Honor Society
The fall 2018 applicants experienced the new and improved application process, and the advisors want to make the process more transparent for those eligible to apply in the fall of 2019 (those with a 3.6 cumulative GPA following an academic year). One component and change, which was optional this year but will be a requirement starting in the fall of 2019, is that applicants must be able to verify 10 hours of community service completed in the past 12 months. Applicants must also demonstrate ACTIVE involvement in a minimum of 2 activities (in or outside of school) with verification of involvement from advisors. Finally, one other significant change is that applicants have to be able to demonstrate their leadership (might be as captain of a sport, but can also be assuming responsibility within a club or even a classroom) and have that verified. Abiding by national policy, the applications will be reviewed by an anonymous faculty council to determine which students best fulfill all four pillars of scholarship, service, character, and leadership. Advisors hope to have the applications ready for the 2019 eligible applicants by the August orientation night.
NWTC Engineering Transfer Program with 4 Year Universities
We would like to bring to your attention some of the options available for students interested in engineering. NWTC is working in cooperation with UW Oshkosh, Stout, Green Bay and MSOE. These programs offer students the opportunity to pursue a bachelors degree in engineering from a university while attending NWTC for the first two years.
There are some great reasons to take a look at these options. Students who enroll in one of these programs have the option of entering the workforce after the completion of their 2nd year with an associates degree. The cost for the associates degree is roughly $10,000. There are great employment opportunities and competitive salaries with an associates degree. Many employers are hiring students during their second semester as interns and offer tuition reimbursement!
Students who choose to can continue on to complete their bachelor degree.
Lastly, there are many scholarships available for these programs as well.
With the high costs of a university education and many students unsure of the path they want to take, these options provide them an affordable and flexible option in several engineering fields.

Eco Club News
*Students are currently encouraged to lessen their plastic pollution by using re-usable water bottles instead of buying single-use plastic containers. Teachers are randomly handing out raffle tickets to those who use re-usables! So grab your Gatorade or stainless steel and get TAP H20!
*Plastic Sporks:
-Students recently took a survey about their preference for Metal silverware at lunch or plastic sporks! ECO club has decided to collect your extra, misfit silverware to donate to school. Students who donate metal silverware will receive +4 raffle tickets each piece!!
OR
*Considering only 9% of plastic is recycled (12% incinerated, 79% to landfills), ECO club would like to help reduce our plastic waste and invest in metal silverware once again! Survey results are posted on the ECO club bulletin board and students gave many reasons why they’d prefer to use metal silverware to pick up and cut tough food and salads especially! :)

Athletics and Activities
Congratulations to our State qualifying wrestlers, Ethan Witcpalek, Ben Durocher, Kaiden Koltz, and Quincy Klister. Each of our participants had an outstanding tournament with Ethan losing a hard fought opening round match in triple overtime, Quincy Klister and Kaiden Koltz battling into the Saturday matches and finishing 4th and 3rd respectively, and Ben Durocher taking 2nd after bowing in an action packed 3-2 championship match. Great job, not only to these qualifiers, but also to the entire wrestling program!
Student athletes and Parents: please be checking your email for an end of season survey from the Wrightstown Athletic Department. As a means to continually improve our programs, we are asking for candid feedback that can be utilized to help us reflect and improve as we move forward.
