Supervision
Students must always be supervised. Several incidents have occurred in transition when an adult has not been present to supervise. Please ensure you are strategically positioning yourself to monitor the classroom and the hallway, especially when transitioning from classroom to classroom.
Cupcakes
Stop by the conference room for a treat on Monday and to check out the amazing work from our students.
From Family Involvement Committee

As we plan for another successful Spring Carnival we're looking for some donations. This year, we're asking for donations of ice, water bottles, drinks (juice or cans of soda), brown paper bags, hot dogs, hot dog rolls, ketchup, mustard, and napkins. If anyone has a cooler we can borrow during the carnival to keep the drinks cold, we'd appreciate a few of those too. Please let Heiser or Moyer know if you plan to donate. Thanks for helping to make this a great carnival!!
From Mr. Thomas
The following 5th graders will be participating in a 100m race against other 5th graders in the district; Juelz Vidal, Ismael Nevarez, Lenny Diaz, Jahmai Torres, Felix Mendez, Velsairis Polanco-Silva, Marajah'ly Diaz, Mia Agvero, Aleichaliz Ramos Delgado and Judy Jarba. The race will take place on May 7th at McCaskey High School. The event starts at 5pm and ends by 6pm. Please encourage and show your support for these students as they race to be the fastest 5th grader in the district.
Safety

DISTRICT ANNOUNCEMENTS & UPDATES
External Partner Registration
In order to meet the objectives and goals of the strategic priorities, the School District of Lancaster is systematically identifying the number and nature of external supports (partners and vendors) in place within each building and across the District. We are asking all SDOL employees to share the “Partner Registration Link: https://goo.gl/forms/hz6IZL8iA5UJWNwX2” to any of their external contacts that collaborate with SDOL so we can start compiling contacts to track, document and measure partnerships, and improve District communication. Please share https://goo.gl/forms/hz6IZL8iA5UJWNwX2 to any of the following: vendors, contractors, support providers, partnerships, etc. that are provided in-kind or for a fee.
Please review the attachment with detailed information on who to share the Partner Registration Link with as well as the message to be included. If you have any questions, please contact Erin Conahan at ekconahan@lancaster.k12.pa.us
Lancaster-Lebanon Sumdog Math Contest starts on May 5
Sumdog is a K-8 computer Math and ELA fluency program where students practice skills aligned to standards.
How do the contests work? Students simply log onto Sumdog and answer math questions while playing Sumdog games. All the questions are adapted to the student, so everyone has an equal chance of winning. There is a maximum number of questions per student, and results are based on accuracy, so even if you can only get on the computers for a short period of time, your class can still be a winner! Questions will reflect what is taught in class as they are standard-aligned.
How does Sumdog know which questions to ask each student? The students will do a diagnostic test when they first start using Sumdog. Their contest questions start once the diagnostic test is complete.
Find out more, including how to enter: sumdog.com/enter_contest
Contact Christian Richards (christian@sumdog.com) for any questions or support getting involved.
