BCSC Food and Clothing Pantry
Thanks to the hard work of community and staff volunteers and Applied Skills students in the Collaborators for Success program at BHS, the BCSC Food and Clothing Pantry continues to serve many families in Brownsburg through a partnership with Gleaners Food Bank. BCSC families have also contributed donations to help make the pantry a great resource for our community.
The pantry will serve families again THURSDAY, 11/3 from 3pm-5:30pm in a drive thru setting and always on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Thursdays of the month. Visitors can pull up to door #7 at the ALPHA/Harris Academy building, 725 C South Green Street.
If you have questions about the pantry, please contact Tracy Damone at tdamone@brownsburg.k12.in.us.

Social media has become a significant source of communication and community for young people today. While it has a lot of positive potential and benefits, it also carries a lot of potential for problems. Many cases of anxiety, poor self-image/self-esteem, and peer conflict stem from interactions that take place over social media and texting. Please take time to review the handbook guidelines with your student and stress the importance of keeping electronic posts – whether to a public or private contact – appropriate and kind.
The full handbook can be found at https://www.brownsburg.k12.in.us/cms/lib/IN02200676/Centricity/Domain/77/2021_High_School_Handbook.FINAL%20030920.pdf, and a couple of key points are provided below.
- Recognize the value of open sharing, diversity of opinion, and civil debate. Do not use social media sites to publish harassing remarks about community members, extra-curricular or academic contest rivals, etc.
- Students should be conscientious of the privacy of BCSC students and faculty. Taking photographs or creating digital video recordings of BCSC community members either on campus or at off-campus BCSC events for online publication or distribution without their consent could constitute unlawful “invasion of privacy”.
- Cyberbullying will not be tolerated. Harassing, dissing, flaming, denigrating, impersonating, outing, tricking, excluding, and cyber stalking are all examples of cyberbullying. Don’t send emails or post comments with the intent of scaring, hurting, or intimidating someone else.
Thank you for helping to keep our students healthy and safe, both in person and online
Attendance and Appointment Call outs
At the high school, we do not have a dedicated attendance line. When a student is out for the day, please call the team office at (317) 852-2258 extension 1701 or email jtewell@brownsburg.k12.in.us, and Mrs. Tewell will mark the student's attendance.
When a student is leaving early for an appointment, please call the team office as early in the day as you can to let us know. We will send a pass to the student's class to release him/her. The student will sign out in the team office and then be allowed to leave the building. Only a guardian may call to release a student from school, but you may have anyone pick him/her up. Parents do not have to come in to sign the student out; students will sign themselves out. Seniors leave thru door 12/ senior academy.
Lunch Reminder
Just a reminder per the BHS student handbook: Students may bring lunch from home for individual consumption only. Meals brought in by parents from restaurants are not permitted. Students cannot leave to go out to lunch during their lunch period. They also cannot have fast food delivered for lunch or brought back to school upon returning from an appointment.
