Hello Tiger Paw Families,
I apologize I normally send this introduction out in the September newsletter.
I am the school social worker here at Tiger Paw and I love my job! I am so excited to be back at school and getting to know your student. If this is your first year at Tiger Paw, I wanted to let you know some of the things I do here at Tiger Paw and how I can help your child and your family.
Social and Emotional Skills. I go into the classrooms and teach about social and emotional skills. One of the main resources that I use to teach social and emotional skills are the SPOT books written and illustrated by Diane Alber. These lessons help our youngest learners name their emotions/feelings and begin to manage their emotions.
In September the book I read was A Little Scribble Spot - (A story about Colorful Emotions) and for our youngest learners, I read A Little Spot - My First Emotions. In October, I will read A Little Peaceful SPOT and the ABC’s of Peaceful Spot. These books teach that we can have BIG emotions like anger, sadness and anxiety/worries and ways we can calm those BIG emotions to be more peaceful and ready to learn.
Care to Learn weekend food bags . This is a free program where we will send home a weekend food bag with your child which has snacks and meal items for the weekend. If you would like to sign up for this program, please contact me (see below information) or your student’s teacher and we will get you the form to fill out.
