Message From Ms. Hafer
Formal Remote Learning Begins This Week
Our teachers have spent the last few weeks analyzing our curriculum standards to determine the most critical skills, not yet covered, that our students will need to be successful as they move forward next year. These skills will be the focus of the work through the end of the school year. Teachers have created lessons that are targeted and meaningful, but also manageable in the home setting. Students can expect to work on one subject per day throughout the week. Teachers will also all hold office hours where they are available via Google Meet to answer questions and provide assistance.
Parents can view a weekly overview of assignments via teacher websites or the weekly newsletter. This will allow parents a way to view the weekly expectations and to even set daily targets for their children. Students will receive all information via google classrooms or by learning packets. Google Classroom is preloaded on student Chromebooks for easy access.

Kids Read Now
This summer Coloma Community Schools will be participating in the Kids Read Now program. This program, which is no cost to you, will provide your student(s) with a minimum of six books this summer!
The program is relatively simple. You will pick your books and the Kids Read Now program will ship them to your house this summer. Attached is the summer reading wish list. Sit down with your students and select nine books they would like to read this summer and select them. Each week, your student will receive a book that they are expected to read. When they finish, there are a few questions to discuss with the student. Then you report the code and the next books will be sent to your student.
More directions will be coming to you from Kids Read Now soon, but if you would like to get a head start on selecting books for your child this summer, please use this link and enter either your email or phone number that are associated with your PowerSchool account.
