  • Thank you teachers for preparing your students for the Writing Fair! Students were on time, prepared, and respectful during the event. The level of writing and feedback keeps getting better!

  • Thank you teachers for participating in our TGDS & CHKS surveys! Because of high participation on the TGDS survey, we will be receiving a free lunch and massage chair for teachers! Details to come on when this amazing day will happen :)

F&P: Thank you Emma, Julia, Jennie, Katie, Kyle, Ryan, Jennifer, and Marlene for submitting 100% of your students' F&P scores in your data spreadsheets! If you have students missing in your data spreadsheets, please update the spreadsheet, assess students, or reach out for support ASAP.

Math C-EOU: Thank you to teachers who turned scantrons in on Thursday at 3:30pm (the date set by the 1/30/15 email). This allowed us to submit our scores at Tilden by the OUSD deadline. If you still haven't submitted your scantrons, please put them in Sarah's box ASAP.

  • Home School Folders: Encourage students have their families complete the Salad Bar Survey (in the Home School Folder) even if parents can't volunteer. The class with the highest response rate will get a reward of their choosing - you know what's motivating to your classes :)
  • Enter your students’ total minutes in the Reading Goal Tally Spreadsheet. This will help student council, ILT, and the team monitor our progress [Monday, 3/9]

"Double Your Impact" Campaign for Teacher Projects on DonorsChoose.org

Oakland Reads 2020 (OR2020) is currently offering a "Double Your Impact" campaign to match donations to classroom literacy projects posted by Oakland teachers onDonorsChoose.org.

OR2020 has committed $25,000 to "double the impact" of donations made to eligible classroom projects, ultimately providing one-half of the funding for projects that meet their fundraising goal. Since January, OR2020 has matched nearly $11,000 in donations for 45 projects at 19 schools. Click here to view the current list of qualifying projects.

OR2020 encourages teachers to post projects to DonorsChoose.org (see eligibility requirements below) and take advantage of this match! Teachers can create a profile and set up a project through the DonorsChoose.org teacher portal.

IMPORTANT: In order to qualify for the OR2020 match, projects must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Location: An Oakland public school (district or charter) or preschool where at least 65% of students qualify for Free/Reduced Price Lunch
  • Age: Grades PreK – 2
  • Subject: Literacy & Language
  • Total cost: $1,000 or less
