Miss Hoppes' Kindergarten

Weekly Update

December 8th-December 12th

Hello Friends! I certainly feel in the Christmas spirit after last night's concert! I hope you all do too. The kiddos did a great job as little lambs. Thank you so much for all of your help with creating the costumes. We have been reading many Christmas stories and working on our comprehension skills. It seems like a bunch of little light bulbs are starting to go off! The class has gotten very excited about reading and many of them are using the strategies they have learned in the classroom. Maybe Santa Clause will even be asked to bring some books for Christmas morning. In math, we are working on measuring with unifix cubes and comparing length. They are having a great time measuring items in the classroom and seeing which things are taller and shorter. In science, we have started exploring different land forms on our earth and other geographical items such as oceans and mountains. Max, our Elf on the Shelf has been having a great time inspiring our students to be on their best behavior before Christmas. I am sure you have heard all about his many adventures like dancing the Nutcracker, drawing a picture of himself on our Promethean Board and reading the Bible on mass day. Today, the students made beautiful mosaic wreath place mats for children who are spending the holidays at Ronald McDonald House. I will be dropping them off sometime next week. This was one of our Advent community projects. Thank you all so much for your donations for our other organizations!

Housekeeping :)

I had "the talk" with the students today and they are aware that next week is going to be my last week with them. I cried, but they seemed to handle it very well :) They might have some questions for you this weekend about my move.

Next Friday (the 19th) Kindergarten will be doing an short Advent presentation after mass. I highly recommend that you all attend! It will be fabulous!! Next Friday is also a half day and there is NO after care.

Have a lovely weekend!
