Carleton Washburne
Monday Memo - December 13, 2021
Washburne Families,
The temperature might not indicate it, but we are in the middle of December with winter break right in front of us. A huge thank you to our students and staff who participated in a variety of service projects last week culminating with our students on Friday filling a truckful of toys and much needed supplies to be delivered to Northwestern Settlement House. For many years, Washburne has participated in the Adopt-a-Family program, providing holiday gifts and other essential supplies to families in need. This year, every advisory at Washburne participated, and we were able to support 18 families working in partnership with Northwestern Settlement House. We want to sincerely thank all of our students, families, and staff for all of their contributions.
We wish all of our community a safe, healthy and relaxing winter break and look forward to 2022.
Take care and Be Well,
Andrew Fenton and Ben Horwitz
Washburne Principal and Assistant Principal
Window to Washburne
Welcome to Window to Washburne! Each week, we will be highlighting some of the learning taking place in our classrooms.
7th grade students on Team Imagine have been reading A Christmas Carol, by Charles Dickens. To guide them through their reading, the students have been treated to mystery guest readers as staff across the building have volunteered. On Friday, students had a special reading from KW teacher Mr. Becker, pictured below. As life-long learners, it’s great for all of our staff to model active reading strategies, including annotation and discussion.
Kudos to Ms. Coyne and all of our guest readers for enhancing the classroom experience for all of our students.

You can then send the Common Teacher Feedback Form, Linked Here, to each teacher.
