WMS Book Fair
The Fall Book Fair is next week, Dec. 9th - Dec. 13th! Students will be visiting the fair with their RELA teacher. Please consider setting up a student eWallet! It's a secure cash-free way for students to shop the fair. Unused funds are released back to your credit card. You can also shop our Online Book Fair now through Dec. 13th! Orders ship directly to your home now. More info can be found on the library website.

Math News
7th Grade Math is completing their algebra unit with solving inequalites while continuing to practice solving equations. The Unit Exam for Equations and Inequalities will be given next Wednesday, December 11th. PreAP will start their proportional/non-proportional unit. Regular math (OL) will begin studying linear representations. *7 PreAP covers all 8th grade skills during the year as they will advance to 9th grade PreAP Algebra next year.
8th Grade Math is exploring geometric transformations, writing the algebraic rule associated with translations and reflections. Students will have a quiz on Wednesday December 10th.
Algebra - The next unit exam is on December 13th. This is the last regular summative grade of the semester. Algebra classes will then be reviewing for their final which will be given December 17-18. More details will be sent out by the individual Algebra teachers.
Science News
6th Grade science is studying non-renewable and renewable resources. Next week they will continue their research on the resource they are given. They will create a presentation discussing various aspects of the resource.
7th Grade science is still studying the digestive system and have done some pretty fun labs this week. They will continue their study of body systems next week and will test on the December 17th. Have a great weekend!
8th Grade science finished up their physics unit this week and test Friday. They will begin the study of tectonic plates and topographic maps over the next couple of weeks before the break. Have a great weekend!
Social Studies News
7th Grade Texas History - During the week of December 9, 2019 we will be entering a new era in Texas history. We are beginning our analysis of the period of the Republic of Texas, and will explore the opportunities and challenges that are present at the birth of the Republic.
8th Grade U.S. History - There will be a Geography Exam on Dec 12th. Students will continue working on the Early Republic Unit.. Students will be comparing and contrasting Washington and Adams Presidencies as well as Jefferson and Hamilton. The early Republic Test will be on December 18th.
Counselor's Corner
Attention All 8th Grade Parents
Summer Creek High School is looking forward to meeting with you and your 8th grader on December 11th from 6-7pm in the Performing Arts Center. Please make provisions to attend to hear information about High School Elective choices, CTE programs and a tour of the school.
Reminders of Campus Polices and Procedures
Take everyday preventive actions to stop the spread of germs
- Try to avoid close contact with sick people.
- While sick, limit contact with others as much as possible to keep from infecting them.
- If you are sick with flu-like illness, CDC recommends that you stay home for at least 24 hours after your fever is gone except to get medical care or for other necessities. (Your fever should be gone for 24 hours without the use of a fever-reducing medicine.)
- Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. After using a tissue, throw it in the trash and wash your hands.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand rub.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth. Germs spread this way.
- Clean and disinfect surfaces and objects that may be contaminated with germs like flu.

ID Badges
All student are required to wear their ID badge on their lanyard around their neck at all times.
-Students that are seen throughout the school day with their ID badge in their pocket, backpack, or under their shirt will automatically receive an after school detention.
-Students that fail to get a needed temporary ID badge before arriving to 1st period will automatically receive an after school detention.
-Any students that attempt to wear a temporary ID badge that reflects a previous date, will automatically receive an after school detention.
Early Parent Pick-Up
Tardies
3rd/4th Tardy- After school detention on Tuesday or Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. -5:00 p.m. with parent contact (transportation will not be provided)
5th/6th Tardy- Extended after school detention on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. with parent contact (transportation will not be provided)
7th Tardy- ISS and parent conference
All tardies will be cleared at the end of each 9 week period
Dress Code Campus Policy
- No tights or leggings made of spandex or tight material
- No excessively tight clothing
- No bandanas of any color
- No hats or beanies
- No head scarfs or wave caps
- No headbands that are 3-D
- Hoods must be off if wearing a hoodie in the building
