Making the Impossible Possible- What does that Mean?
Every morning students help me read the Bobcat morning announcements. During this time students encourage each other by reading let's make the impossible possible. However, I am not sure that everyone knows what that means. Like our community movie night's lead character Akeelah (and the Bee) our students face many challenges that from a statistical basis make the idea of excellence seem like a fairy tale. But I know that our campus is not made of statistics, but it is made of students, and teachers, and staff that believe in each other, and in their own capacities for excellence. I have seen our current 6th grade class reach excellence (Hoorah!). That achievement inspires me, and assures me that there is no limit to our students' potential.
In statistics there is a concept called outliers. Outliers are stats that do not follow the expected trend. I know that our team is dedicated to making 2018 an outlier year for our campus, because we are going to reach our goals of excellence for every student. I know this because I can see it in the foundational framework that our team and our students have built during the first semester of hard work and dedication. The cool thing is that if we accomplish this goal in 2018, then we will be able to make excellence our new normal, and that is a powerful new mantra to look forward to.
