The Bee's Knees
March 2019
Preparing staff for the transition is important but more important is preparing the students for the change. In the afternoon when we praise students for a job well done we tell them they are ready for Kindergarten. Of course from the first day your child attends BEC we are focused on preparing them for kindergarten. Our staff work tirelessly to ensure our students have the hard and soft skills necessary to be successful in kindergarten. In early May our students that are kindergarten-bound will have the opportunity to ride a WSD school bus to visit their elementary school, meet the principal and get a tour of their next school. I will send permission slips home in April for that field trip, which is the only field trip BEC students take.
I am outlining this to help you prepare for kindergarten! Often times the transition to elementary school is difficult for parents. That is understandable as entry into elementary school is a significant milestone. Rest assured, a lot of folks are working hard to make the transition as smooth as possible.
