Attention ELD Teachers…Are you teaching your students through the summer months? If you aren't, who's in charge of learning?
Summer can be the BEST time for families to learn and grow together. ReadyRosie, a free comprehensive family engagement resource designed to support PRK-3rd English learners’ academically and emotionally, has developed the Summer Soar program for families to use over the summer months. ReadyRosie’s Summer Soar program encompasses 10 playlists that focus on games and activities that families will love doing together. Research shows that children can lose 20% or more of what they learned during summer months. Don't let summer loss kick in! The Summer Soar program has a downloadable gameboard, printable playlists, summer learning videos, and full home learning packets to promote fun learning all summer. Watch the ReadyTeacher Chat: See Summer Learning Soar webinar for more information.
Every week this summer, parents/caregivers who are registered will receive a text or email from ReadyRosie with activities that they can do with their child(ren).
Here is how ELD teachers can get the Summer Soar program information out to students and families:
1. Find students who have a ReadyRosie account. Click here for instructions.
2. Request copies of the Summer Soar packet in this google form. We will print them off, and your ELD coordinator will send them to your site. Make requests by Friday, May 3rd.
3. Get students excited by showing them a video from the packet. Encourage students to track the videos on the gameboard and return it next school year. You can also reach out to families to let them know about the Summer Soar program.
Do you have students who are not yet signed up for ReadyRosie?
It is not too late! Download the registration form, send it home, and add the student to your classroom.
