Causes of the American Revolution
No turning back now!
Mercantilisam
Policy where we send our raw materials to our mother country. While they get rich off of us our anger keeps going up slowly and we start smuggling items. So we don't have to buy expensive prices from Britain. They got tired of going to their mother country for everything so they started going behind Britain's back.
The Boston Tea Party
The colonists didn't like how Britain put a tax on tea so they were boycotting them. Sam Adams and the Sons of Liberty organized to protest the Tea act. The colonists dressed like indians; boarded a British cargo ship and dumped British tea into the Boston harbor.
The Stamp Act
The colonists were forced to pay a tax on all sorts of printed materials. Which made them upset because they just fought for them and now they are making the colonists pay for the war. It affected almost everyone in the colonies and convinced many colonists of the need for action. The colonists greeted the arrival of the stamps with outrage and violence.
The Battle of Lexington and Concord
The colonists felt they were being treated as second class citizens of the British empire. When time, distance and arrogance on both sides made seeking a peaceful solution next to impossible, the colonists felt they had no recourse but to fight at Lexington and Concord in 1775. British troops marched from Boston to Concord Massachusetts to take weapons stored there by the militia. By the time the red coats reached Lexington the minutemen were already waiting, for them because Paul Revere warned them that the British were coming.
