The Hall Way...
Hello Warhawks!
I hope everyone is enjoying the summer and that our families have been able to relax, spend time together, and reenergize for the new school year. It is hard to believe that we are only a few weeks away from the start of school.
For our incoming 6th graders and new students, I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Bethany Hall, the Principal of Northwood Middle School. In addition to my love for all things numbers and my passion for learning, I am most proud of my role as mom and wife. My family loves to spend time together enjoying nature, playing games, and there is always a lot of laughter! We are so glad we are able to travel and do little day and weekend adventures again. This summer we were able to relax and enjoy some fun up in northern Michigan. My husband, Jason, and I also spent a lot of time at the golf course cheering on our son. Gable will be entering 7th grade this year, so I am always seem to find myself surrounded by middle schoolers these days!
This will be my 25th school year in D200. Where does the time go? I began my career as a math teacher at Woodstock High School and have been at Northwood for nine years. Middle school is such an important part in a student's school career and I feel blessed to work with our amazing students. The Northwood students and staff inspire me everyday with their curiosity, perseverance, creativity, and care for each other. This truly is a special place and I am looking forward to meeting all of our new Warhawks and welcoming back our returning students in seventh and eighth grade.
The Warhawk Weekly is our newsletter for families and students. Each week we will share important updates and information. Please contact the school office with any questions and/or concerns you have now or anytime throughout the school year. This edition of the newsletter has some quick info and dates to save on your calendar. We will send more detailed back to school information out soon!

Meet the Assistant Principal - Mr. Baier
Dear Northwood Families,
I hope you all are enjoying the rejuvenating days of summer and that you and your children are looking forward to beginning a wonderful school year together in August!
I am entering my third year here at Northwood as the Assistant Principal, but in addition to my role as an educator, I am first and foremost a father and a husband. My daughter Everly will be turning 4 in August and she requested a My Little Pony New Generation themed party. She made it very clear it needed to be the New Generation! My youngest daughter Ella just turned 2 in July, with a “Wild Two” theme. She is definitely on the feisty side! They are my world and they have me securely wrapped around their little fingers. My beautiful wife Sohpia and I will be married 8 years August 1! She is my support system, my voice of reason , and my best friend.
The 2022-2023 school year will mark my 16th year in education. Since graduation from Illinois State University, I have served communities in a variety of roles. I first began my teaching career in Bartlett, Il teaching in a therapeutic day school. Our school served more than 100 students with special needs ranging for ages 5-21. I then ventured into the public school setting at the middle school in Batavia, IL. There I continued working in special education, having a classroom in which I taught each subject area to a core group of students. And now after graduating from Aurora University with my Administrative Endorsement, I am here at Northwood!
Northwood is truly a special place to work. Our entire staff is committed to providing the best possible experience for your child while they navigate the rough waters of middle school. I am committed to always exploring new ways to meet the needs of all students and to more effectively communicate with parents and community members. As the old saying goes “we are all in this together” and that resonates even more with all that had transpired the previous couple of years.
To our students, I cannot wait to see you all! I hope that you are excited for this coming school year and that you are out this summer playing and reading tons of books with your family and friends. It is going to be a fun year learning together!
