Fulton Focus
For the parents and patrons of the Fulton School District
May 27, 2020
A message from the Superintendent
Dear Parents and Patrons:
As most probably understand, the COVID 19 pandemic has been stressful for almost everyone. Our current challenge is how to reopen school activities yet ensure your children are safe and have a great school experience. Planning is in place to resume activities as soon as practical.
Sports/Activities
Information regarding summer activities will be coming your way soon. Direction from the County Health Department as well as the NCMC Conference will help determine how activities will look for the summer.
2020-21 School Year
As of this writing, it is our intent to open school on August 26, 2020, as indicated on the Board of Education approved calendar. Obviously, the guidance will be sought from the Callaway County Health Department to ensure your child's safety. As the District returns to ‘normal’ operating, two major study groups will outline the procedures and processes FPS will follow.
1. A group of representatives from across the district has been formed and will determine what FPS will do in various scenarios regarding instruction and learning in the fall.
2. A second group will be working on Health Protocols. This group has representatives from all buildings and areas across the district. The goal of this group is to review and develop cleaning protocols, building shutdown rules, sick student/employee rules, and general virus wellness issues.
These two groups will be meeting through the month of June. FPS will roll out the recommendations in July.
Your District faculty and staff are looking forward to students returning and resuming regular school activities. Additional information will be provided as the summer progresses.
Thank you for sending great kids for us to work with.
Sincerely,
Jacque A. Cowherd, Ed.D.
