What a wonderful Season
Hello All --
It does not seem possible that we are done with our 2023-2024 season. After a bit of down time, I can say that I miss all of you. It does not seem possible that I will not be seeing so many of you regularly and especially our seniors.
Thank goodness we have at least one more meeting with our team at the Aloha Winter Sports event on Wednesday, February 28th at 7:00PM. We hope that all of you will be there to support each other as we celebrate a great season with our all metro awards, state awards, all metro academic awards and then with just swim our Varsity and Participation Awards. Let's have the biggest turnout.
It is never too early to start recruiting swimmers for next year. If you have anyone interested, please share my contact info and I will be happy to talk with them.
A Few of our Highlights this season:
--100% wins in character at every single meet. To watch our athletes treat every opponent and volunteer with kindness and respect touches our hearts in huge ways. Even more important is to hear from parents from other teams, pool staff and officials how polite and kind our swimmers are to others, that they love to see their spirit shine through in how they support their teammates and others around them. This is the biggest win of all.
-- 18 athletes learned to swim and not only swim but compete. We are over the moon because now we have young men and women that have not only a life skill, but a life-saving skill. Keep learning and growing in the water.
- I officially lost a bet. At the district swim meet the team as a whole had 121 splash downs and out of the 121 - 101 were PRs. Mathmatically, that means the team as a whole 83.47%. So upper ear piercing here I come.
- We were represented well at the State meet by Aaron Goswitz who not only swam beautifully he finished 10th in the IM and swam a personal best in the 100 Fly by more than a second to finish on the podium in fifth place. We are very proud of him.
Important Thank Yous:
-- What an amazing hospitality Suite at the District Swim Meet. I will not be able to thank our committee enough for the time, care and energy put into making Aloha shine in the biggest of ways. Laurie Brower, Jenell Long, Deanna Manning and Joan Dupraw -- You all amaze me with your hearts and genuine drive to make Aloha be the best in hospitality. I have to say it was mentioned on more than one occasion - what a wonderful job and at state officials that worked our meet were talking about what a difference there was. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
-- The best parent volunteers across the board. Thank you everyone for being so supportive of our program. As always our Ohana is the best.
-- Thank you to our Scorekeeper Chris Nicholson and our Starter Richard Burnett. I cannot thank you enough for always taking such good care of us. I never worry about how things are being handled on your end, you are both consummate professionals that give of yourselves in so many ways. Thank you for being a vital part of our Ohana.
-- Yes, I am prejudiced but a great big thank you to the coaching Staff, arguably the best in the league. Dom, Brian and Gabi you are truly wonderful people that took this ride with me in blind faith. You are the best part of our family. Without you, none of this would be possible. Thank you.
-- yes, I am biased but a great big thank you to our athletic department. Bill who attended every home meet, thank you for your unwavering support and always ready to help and support. Vanessa -- there are not enough words to say thank you for doing so much and on the fly. I especially appreciate you more than you know. Shelly without question the best Athletic Trainer in our state. The fact that you take care of our athletes with not only your expertise but your heart touches me deeply. Then you also take the time to come support us when possible. To this day you are still the only trainer I have ever seen at a swim meet. We have the best Athletic Department.
- Thank you to our administrators that came to support us this year. Mr Casteel and Mr Boyer. I never saw any other admin at any of our away meets.
I hope to see everyone next Wednesday and until we see each other again thank you,
Lisa
