  • Overcoming obstacles
  • Demonstrates respect to the student body and faculty and/or honors and respects others' property.
  • Exhibits behaviors of an upstander.
  • Student is working to his or her potential and/or shows improvement in areas that are challenging.
  • Shows a strong commitment to continuing their education.
  • Demonstrates acceptance and tolerance of the differences in others.
  • Goes above and beyond to show support of others.Demonstrating the ability to work independently.
  • Exhibits good time management/organizational skills.
A committee then reads through the nominations and chooses one student for each grade.

A Great Night at the RMS Fall Costume Ball!

WHAT. A. NIGHT! This past Friday 10/28, the RMS Student Council organized a Fall Costume Ball from 6-8:30 in the gymnasium and it was so much fun! Student costumes and outfits were top notch, music by DJ Luke had the dance floor packed, and the PTO-ran concession stand was very popular throughout the event.

Many thank you's are in order: Thank you to our students for their good behavior and for having fun, to our teacher chaperones and Nurse Amber for helping the event run smoothly, to the PTO for organizing and running a well-stocked concession stand, to DJ Luke for the music, to the Student Council and Advisors (Ms. Gonzalez and Ms. K) for organizing the event, to the custodial and maintenance staff for set up and clean up, and to the parents and families for swift pick up of your student(s) at the end of the event! A true team effort!

RMS Hosts BMX Anti-Bullying Assembly

On Friday, October 21st, Rombout hosted a BMX Assembly in our Gymnasium for all students at RMS and all students grades 3-5 from our Elementary Schools. The bikers did plenty of high flying tricks, including backflips over some of our teachers and staff! They also talked about bullying and how we can prevent and stop it if we see it. It was a great time!

Lost and Found

Our Lost and Found is starting to pile up. Check that, it HAS piled up! Items like sweatshirts, jackets, bags, water bottles, keys, and other items are there.

If your student has lost an item, we might have found it! Please encourage them to go through all of the items which are located near the snack line in the Cafeteria.

Families, the items will also be available for you to peruse during Report Card Conferences.

Hiking and Swimming Trip Recap

On October 18, 19, and 20, our RMS PE teachers organized hiking and swimming field trips for all of the grades.

The swimmers enjoyed a morning at the BHS pool and then some fresh air outside afterwards. Thank you to Coach Green, Varsity Swim Coach, who helped to make sure the pool ran smoothly.

The hikers trekked up Mount Beacon and were able to get great views of the Reservoir, the Fire Tower (and the NYC Skyline!), the Casino lookout and then back down.

A huge shout out to Mr. Bob Simmonds, who was our Security Guard/Tour Guide for the trips up Mount Beacon.
