A message from the principal
June Smore
It is hard to believe that summer is here. The school year always seems to fly by. As we look forward to warmer weather, getting outside, and not thinking about school for a bit, I do encourage you to have your students read a few books over the summer. It is a great way for them to continue their good habits and not lose any skills they have built over the year. As we look forward to next year, I want to wish all of our 8th grade students the best as they move on to Blaine High School next year. We will also have quite a bit of change in our enrollment next year as well. For those moving on to Roosevelt, I wish you well, and I look forward to seeing all of our returning students in the fall. Have a great summer and thank you for partnering with us this year.

Lyme’s Disease
What is Lyme’s Disease?
Lyme’s disease is a bacterial infection that can be transmitted to a person from a bite of an infected deer tick. Not all deer ticks carry diseases.
Symptoms of Lyme’s Disease
Fever, chills, headache, fatigue, pain or stiff joints and muscles, weakness and/or ring-shaped rash
Preventing Tick Bites
Apply insect repellent (should contain 20 to 30% DEET) and/or Permethrin to clothing, avoid wooded and bushy areas, wear long sleeves and pants, brush off clothing and pets before going indoors, bathe or shower as soon as possible after coming indoors
Improper removal of ticks greatly increases the risk of acquiring tick-borne infections. Squeezing the tick or putting substances on the tick to try to make it "back out" may aggravate it enough that it injects into you whatever disease organisms are inside it.
Always see a physician for possible diagnosis, testing, and treatment
Immunization reminder:
Students need to be updated on required immunizations. Covid vaccinations are NOT a require immunization. Please provide health services with verification of immunizations or exemption paperwork. If you are unsure of what vaccines your child still needs or need assistance obtaining vaccines, please contact health services.
