Room 15 - Suspension Bridge Writing
Pupils Crossing a Damaged Suspension Bridge, Lebak, Indonesia
Rickety click clack, the bridge is wobbling like crazy. Basically my whole class are trotting on the broken rotten bridge. Yuck, Yuck!! My mouth tastes like the rotten air around us. Am I going to make it to school on time this morning?
My feet are trotting along the smelly, rotten, broken bridge. My hands shaking like an enormous earthquake. Ahhhhh! I tried to hold onto my best mate Ruby, but I didn’t have a very strong grip since today was such a frosty day. I peeked down underneath me and saw the sicky disgusting green water swiftly flowing past the riverbank.
By McKenzie Zame
My feet stung like thousands of knives stabbing into them. Bamboo drifted across the water like boats zipping past. I can’t wait to get of this bridge I thought bitterly. Why don’t we just walk on the wood? But we all knew the answer to that - the wood is falling apart. Arrrrrr!
I thought I hate this journey, I hate hate hate this journey. I was halfway across the bridge when… it suddenly flipped! There were too many people on one side of the bridge. People were falling into the murky water. Oh no! I tried to grab my friend, but I missed her arm. My heart was beating like a rabbit thumping the ground ten times again and again. Where was my little brother? I saw him float past. I grabbed his hand. “Hold on!” I screamed. His hand was slippery like ice. It was too hard to hold on. HELP!!!!! he yelled out to me. I slowly made my way back to the village in the rainforest. I told some adults about what had happened. Some went to flip over the splintery bridge above the murky water. More went to the beach to see if any kids had drifted down there. There was a storm coming in. I hoped we would find my fantastic school friends and my brother before the storm arrived…

PCT Challenge
Earlier this term 20 Intermediate students took part in the Police Competency Training course team challenge. Mr Sigurdsson trained these young athletes very hard and had them fizzing for the event. All 5 teams went very well, and all made the top 12 teams of the event, which included teams from a number of Intermediate aged students. The semis went down to a nail biting finish and resulted in Inglewood having 2 of the fastest times recorded. The team of Journi Manser, Pypa Ward, Preston Valentine, and Mitchell Mace had a final run and in a sensational finish completed the obstacles the quickest, winning by a narrow margin over Mangorei school. This was the sixth time over the last 12 years IPS have been crowned champions. Well done to those 4, but also all the competitors who trained hard and performed exceptionally well.
